Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Provides support to senior engineers in various engine and vehicle performance and emission assignments and projects.

  • Monitors engine and / or vehicle performance and emissions metrics and helps assess how they relate to engine design

  • Assists engineers in creating test plans and reports

  • Assists with engine and / or vehicle mechanical work (as needed)

  • Ensures that the raw data sets taken from engine development projects have all necessary parameters needed for subsequent calculations

  • Checks that the performance and emissions calculations applied to raw test data are appropriate, correct, and are being completed efficiently

  • Plots engine and / or vehicle test data using department plotting tools

  • Leverages latest techniques in data collection, data analysis, model development and running scenarios to research trends and identify patterns

  • Ensures the appropriate methodology, measurements, tools and quantitative techniques (e.g. data collection, computer simulation, statistics, etc.) are applied in projects

  • Assesses performance and emissions data trends with the help of department engineers

  • Applies engineering principles and analytical techniques when processing and reviewing performance and emissions test data

  • The employee will also be expected to occasionally liaise with suppliers.

Your Skills & Strengths

  • Major in an engineering or science related field

  • Proven track record of achievements both academically and professionally, cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above

  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and effectively communicate information

  • Strong mathematical background

  • Excellent at MS Office applications and willingness and quick adaptability to learn new software

  • Working knowledge of Matlab, Minitab, SolidWorks, other analytical, statistical and simulation tools is a plus

  • Proven ability in working collaboratively across cross-functional and multi-national teams in all organizational levels and delivering results under tight deadlines and fast-paced environment

  • Interest in data analysis and result interpretation

  • Cognitive thinking, strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills with keen attention to detail

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

  • Desire to work in hands-on lab and applied research environment

The Analyst, Renewable Energy will assist with the implementation of Kinect's on-site solar and Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) strategies. For the On-site Solar Client Representative model, the Analyst takes the lead for the customer in qualifying the solar potential at customer sites, developing and administering RFPs or other competitive bidding processes, financial and technical analysis of solar proposals, and overseeing project development through construction for the client. VPPA responsibilities: * The Analyst will assist with the identification and qualification of prospective VPPA projects, the completion of analyses to assess the price risk of VPPA projects, the development of marketing materials and client presentations. * The Analyst will build relationships and work closely with third-party developers to enable delivery of on-site solar and VPPA projects. The ideal candidate must be adept at managing portfolios of projects across multiple sites at the same time. * The role requires solar industry experience across the technical, financial, contractual, and implementation phases and knowledge of the structure and operation of electric markets as it relates to large off-site renewable energy projects. * The position serves as a renewable energy subject matter expert within the company, and requires knowledge of existing and emerging technology, energy markets and renewable energy incentives and policy. * Must be able to effectively communicate the renewable energy benefits including the financial (e.g., price reduction, hedging), and the environmental (e.g., carbon reduction). Sales/Project Qualification - * Assist with the sales and project qualification process to determine the viability of solar PV at prospective sites, both rooftop and ground-mount. * Complete initial solar design and layout using Helioscope, collect electric tariff data, evaluate rate cost and usage information to conduct a high-level economic analyses (simple payback) which would include all Federal and State-level incentives. * For VPPA projects work with clients to identify renewable energy needs, Scope 2 emission reductions goals, and assess their overall electric load to determine whether they are viable candidates for off-take in a VPPA. * Assist with development of general marketing materials and client presentations that explain VPPAs generally, and specific project off-take opportunities. * RFP/Competitive Bidding Development & Project Acquisition - assist with the development of competitive bidding materials and RFPs and process administration for on-site solar. Support administration by serving as the liaison between the client and bidders, collecting bidder questions and drafting answers, organizing site visits, and ensuring the process stays on schedule. Assist with the technical and financial analysis of bids, and development of client recommendations. * For VPPA projects work with developers to collect project information to add to the VPPA portfolio. Take the lead on assessing the viability of VPPA projects based on price, settlement point, and other relevant contract terms. * Solar Project Implementation Leadership - overseeing project implementation on behalf of the client and serving as the primary liaison between the client and project developer. Assisting with information collection (e.g., electrical diagrams, structural drawings, roof plans), scheduling of site visits, and overall project scheduling. Work from the client perspective to coordinate all site activities to help ensure delivery of an on-time, and on-budget solar project. * VPPA Sales and Contracting Support - assist renewable energy team in preparing materials to present VPPA project information to clients, explain VPPA project risk profile, and projected financial performance. Work with clients during the contract review process to explain standard VPPA contract structures and terms, accounting implications, etc. Experience and Skills: * 1-3 years of renewable energy industry experience, with a preference for on-site solar and VPPA experience * Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Environmental Science, or Sustainable Energy. Advanced degree preferred * Excellent understanding of renewable energy incentives, policy, and existing U.S. renewable energy markets * High-level understanding of: solar layout and design software (e.g. Helioscope), electrical system design as it relates to sizing solar PV systems * Proficient at analyzing and modelling electric markets and electric tariffs * Extremely proficient with the use of Microsoft Excel and other modelling software * Strong project management skills, including experience with appropriate software tools * Strong problem-solving, mathematical, financial modeling and organizational skills * Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver meaningful business results with minimal supervision * General business and financial acumen plus evidence of customer-service orientation * Effective communications skills (written, verbal and presentation) * Effective team player who excels at performing in a collaborative environment World Fuel Services Corporation Plymouth MN
