Position Summary

The Cook/Server prepares and serves quality meals for patients in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.

Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent

  • One (1) year experience in food preparation preferred

  • Must have experience in preparing and cooking food in large quantities

Specific Job Requirements

  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action

  • Must be knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility

  • Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department

  • Must perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation

  • Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.

  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information

  • Must understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures

  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training

Essential Functions

  • Must be able to prepare and serve meals that are appetizing in both taste and appearance, and appropriate for each patient

  • Must be knowledgeable of ordered diets as well as food consistency

  • Must be able to ensure food and supplies for the next meal are readily available

  • Must be able to serve meals and snacks in a timely manner

  • Must be able to utilize production tools and recipes provided to prepare meals and snacks

  • Must exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients

  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of patients

  • Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance

  • Must be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment

  • Must be able to communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team

  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

Position Summary * The Prep Cook assists in preparation and serving food including texture modified and therapeutic diets according to the facility menu. * Prepares food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, in line with our established policies and procedures, and, as may be directed by the Dining Services Director, Dining Services Assistant Manager or Chef, to ensure that quality dining services are provided at all times. * The Prep Cook assists in assuring proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation, and cleaning procedures are followed. * The Prep Cook must be detail-oriented, well-groomed, act professionally and must be a team player who works well with others. * The Prep Cook must assist dietary aides as necessary. * The Prep Cook consistently embodies the characteristics necessary to drive the Company's Purpose, Vision, Values, and DNA. Qualifications * A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience in food preparation preferred. * Must successfully complete an approved sanitation and safety course. * Ability to read, speak, write and understand English. Follow directions and complete tasks. * Ability to follow time schedules for meal preparation and serving. * Maintains a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance. * Dependable, with experience working in facilities utilizing quantity food production methods. * General knowledge and understanding of nutrition. * Basic computer skills. * Ability to maintain records and complete reports as required, including web-based reporting. * Written and oral communication skills. * Skill in using public relations techniques to promote the foodservice program to client and residents. * Ability to interact positively with residents, client and other personnel and the public. * Good communication, interpersonal skills organizational skills. * Ability to prioritize multiple tasks. * Ability to read and accurately apply requirements of recipe and equipment instructions. * Knowledge of quantity food production and serving techniques, food safety/sanitation requirements and procedures. Additional Requirements: * Must be able to lift/carry a maximum of 50 pounds, push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend and walk for extended periods of time. * Must be able to work around food and cleaning products. * Must live in service area. No relocation costs.
