General Job Description:
To execute all aspects of food preparation, production, and presentation of meals and food offerings while consistently providing high quality products for all restaurant guests.

Essential Functions (Duties include but are not limited to):

  • Maintain high sanitation standards throughout the area of responsibility, which will meet or exceed Federal, State, and Local standards

  • Ensure organized and clean storage areas for all food

  • Ensure that all food items are properly handled, and stored at the end of the shift

  • Properly rotate inventory (FIRST IN - FIRST OUT)

  • Prepare food per specifications for lunch, dinner, and banquets

  • Pre-prep and store food for the restaurant and banquets

  • Maintain clean and orderly storage areas and proper product pars

  • Clean your workstation "as-you-go" and leave it stocked and clean

  • Work with the supervisor/manager to create specials to provide additional menu variety and use up available food

  • Maintain control over food security through regular inventories, proper portioning, and correct lock up procedures and production methods

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking

  • Must be able to communicate clearly to restaurant servers, managers, and other culinary personnel

  • Ability to follow recipes and menu specifics

  • Ability to reach, bend and frequently lift up-to 45 pounds

Female gender is a Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ) (WAC 162-16-240). We are seeking individuals of the female gender for this position due to the need of Female Correction Officers to comply with the standards set forth in the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA). Under general supervision, responsible for the supervision of the Olympia City Jail. Special Application Instructions * Entry Level Corrections Officer candidates. The City of Olympia uses Public Safety Testing (PST) as the initial step for hiring entry-level corrections officers. Ren Emerson - Beckman, at (360)753-8042 or via email at Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills The essential functions of this female only position include but are not limited to: * Due to the privacy issues involved with searches, and in order to comply with PREA, this position is for female applicants only* * Receives, searches, books, fingerprints, and photographs incoming prisoners. * Issues jail uniforms. * Classifies and houses prisoners. * Prepares and escorts prisoners for court, monitors prisoners in court; and may take into custody court committed defendants. * Release prisoners and their property according to established procedures, bail, court order, or as otherwise ordered by appropriate authorities. * Assigns and directs work on inmate workers and other inmates. * Ensures sanitary standards are maintained in food service operation. * Monitors prisoner well being; summons medical aid; and communicates with medical staff. * Maintains a log of all medications for inmates; dispenses medication according to medical instructions. * Conducts periodic cell searches to ensure adherence to jail rules and regulations and confiscates contraband. * Write reports documenting incidents and places items into evidence. * Monitors prisoners both directly in person and by use of an indirect video monitoring system. * Accesses information from a computer system, sends teletypes, pulls records for court and accesses records from microfilm. * Maintains and updates jail records. * Punctual, regular and reliable attendance is essential for successful job performance. Minimum qualifications & Requirements Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * Knowledge of methods of jail security * Knowledge of jail facility regulations and applicable RCW's and WAC's. * Knowledge of emergency first aid procedures. * Skill in defusing potentially violent/explosive situations. * Skill in operating personal computers and associated office software programs such as word processors, databases, and spreadsheets. * Ability to apply general policies and procedures to specific situations. * Ability to manage uncooperative or violent prisoners without the use of force, if possible. * Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of routine and emergency situations. * Ability to apply necessary and approved physical control of violent prisoners for self-defense and to ensure the safety of other prisoners and personnel. * Ability to deal courteously with the general public over the counter and on the telephone. * Ability to work from written and verbal instructions. * Ability to supervise inmates in cleaning and maintenance activities. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, Department employees and jail inmates. * Ability use and maintain firearms. * Demonstrated punctual, regular and reliable attendance is required. Experience/Education: * High School diploma or GED required. * Prior experience in supervising jail inmates and college-level course work or current training in corrections, sociology, psychology, criminal justice, health, and first aid are preferred. * Successful completion of the Corrections Officer Academy sponsored by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission is required within six months of employment. Special Requirements: * Corrections Officers must be a U.S. citizen and at least 21 years of age at the time of hire. * A valid Washington State Drivers' License is required upon employment. * Qualification in First Aid and CPR; WCIC certification; and successful completion of a polygraph, and psychological examination, and criminal background check are conditions of employment. * Ability to meet and maintain physical and health standards is a condition of employment. * Ability to possess a firearm in accordance with Federal or State regulations is a condition of continuing employment. * Conviction of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence may result in not being hired or termination of employment as a corrections officer. Supplemental information Contacts: * Corrections Officers have constant, daily contact with jail prisoners, other Police Department employees and the general public. * In addition, there is frequent contact with officials and employees of other jurisdictions to coordinate prisoner extradition and confirm warrants. * Contacts with prisoners are negative by nature and require a great deal of sensitivity, alertness and interpersonal skill. * The Corrections Officer may greet the public at the counter and respond to requests for information and assistance on the telephone. Supervision: * None Accountability: * Corrections Officers are accountable for the safety and well being of prisoners; and the safety of employees and citizens in the vicinity of the jail. Working Conditions: * Corrections Officers work in and around the City jail within close proximity with prisoners who may be physically and/or verbally abusive.
