Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center (AMRTC) has opportunities for you to join our team as a State of Minnesota employee. AMRTC is a secure inpatient psychiatric hospital serving adults with mental illness in a large, campus-based setting. Located just 15 minutes north of the Twin Cities metro, this modern facility offers compassionate, person-centered care in a pleasant environment appreciated by patients and employees alike.

In the role of Cook at AMRTC, will prepare delicious and nutritious salads, cold entrees, nourishments, bag lunches, snacks and special event items for hospital patients, employees and visitors. You will also perform necessary food service duties to maintain regulatory standards, plus ensure a clean, organized and efficient kitchen environment. This position includes direct patient interaction during meal trayline service. We seek applicants with a positive attitude and strong work ethic, who are ready to share our dedication to the people we serve.

Job duties include:

  • Prepare and dish fruits, vegetables, cold salads and cold modified diet menu items for patients, visitors and employees so that foods are nutritious, attractive, tasty and safe for patient consumption and meal time schedules are maintained.

  • Assist with hot food production when needed.

  • Follow recipes and prepare all menus items as written unless otherwise approved by Dietetic Administrative Staff.

  • Unload and store food/miscellaneous supplies delivered to the main kitchen loading dock and assist with inventory when requested.

  • Maintain sanitation per Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) program and State, Federal, and AMRTC regulations and guidelines.

  • Perform other food service related tasks as assigned by supervisor so that all dietary responsibilities are accomplished and as appropriate.

  • Comply with all safety and health standards, rules, regulations, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all standards and rules.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, your application/resume must clearly demonstrate how you meet all of the following criteria:

  • Knowledge of large-scale cooking methods and equipment sufficient to prepare and serve food for a large number of people and adjust recipes to accommodate different numbers of people.

  • Knowledge of nutrition and food values sufficient to prepare items from standard recipes.

  • Knowledge of health and safety principles involved in food preparation operations sufficient to prepare and serve safe and healthy meals.

  • Ability to follow oral instructions and read and comprehend written instructions.

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks, such as bending, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
