Providence is calling a Cook (1.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable) to Providence Elderplace Glendoveer in Portland, OR.

In this position, you will:

  • Produce foods of high quality for participants and visitors.

  • Assure safe food handling techniques that are used at all times in food storage, preparation, and serving.

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Current Multnomah County Food Handler's Certificate

  • 2 years experience in hot food production

  • In compliance with company policy and state regulations, a Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background check may be required for this position based upon the location of the position

  • Fingerprinting may be required

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Serve-safe training certificate

  • Knowledge of food production for therapeutic diets

Plans menus taking into account the center budget, the foods in season, local availability and state and federal nutritional requirements for children. Keeps an accurate inventory of supplies and orders replacement of supplies as needed. Child care has special demands in that we care for children who in many instances, cannot care for themselves. Job Requirements * Must be at least 18 years old (21 years if responsible for driving a van) and a high school diploma or equivalent. * Should be knowledgeable of state nutritional requirements of children. * Has relevant experience in a licensed child care facility kitchen, commercial kitchen, public school cafeteria, or equivalent. * May be required to have food service/food handlers permit or license according to state/local regulations.
