Cafeteria employees enable Church employees and temple patrons to focus on their most important work of bringing souls unto Jesus Christ by providing food services in a simple and affordable way.
Prepares food following intermediate to difficult recipes including entrees, soups, salads, and so on as directed by chef or supervisor. Specific work
performed may vary considerably among incumbents in this position.
Intermediate competency in reading, writing, and mathematics with 4 years work experience and at least 2 of those years in food preparation required.
Must have food handler permit where required. Knowledge of food preparation and ability to follow menus and recipes of some difficulty.
Must be able to read and understand weights, measures, and recipes in the language of the country.
Ability to use a variety of kitchen equipment and to read and follow almost all recipes.
Good communication skills in English (or country language) and common courtesy when dealing with others. Ability to give directions to others.
Must be able to lift/move/maneuver objects weighing up to 40 lbs, work while standing for entire shift, make repetitive movements, and work in a fast paced environment.
Must be able to work in extreme heat or cold conditions in a physically taxing environment.
Must be punctual and able to work independently.
Note: Specific work performed may vary considerably among incumbents in this position. This role will be expected to do all or several of the following tasks:
Serve food in cafeteria line
Cook intermediate to difficult recipes such as: prime rib, salmon, meatloaf, from scratch recipes, etc.
Baking intermediate to difficult recipes such as: from scratch cakes, pie crust, etc.
Waste control, rotate FIFO
Ensures proper care of food goods and leftovers
Assist with other cafeteria duties including:
Maintain clean working area
Create requisitions
Receive and store some orders
May act as lead in some locations
Other duties as assigned
