Work Schedule: 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM

Summary:

The Cook I is responsible for preparing assigned items for all meals in the cafeteria and for the patient through sanitary and safe means. The work environment consists of a hospital kitchen setting and includes exposure to and use of various kitchen machines including all those referenced. It also consists of a typical hospital setting and may include exposure to hazardous substances and be somewhat stressful. Perform any duties and/or responsibilities assigned by Manager or Supervisor for which qualified.

Responsibilities:

  • Follows all departmental and organizational policy and procedures as well as sanitary and safety standards for handling food and equipment.

  • Attends all mandatory organization training programs, staff meetings and appropriate committees.

  • Participates and collaborates in the departmental Performance Improvement programs.

  • Monitors stocking of floor refrigerators.

  • Performs weekly checks of patient trays for accuracy and completeness.

  • Coordinates monthly patient surveys.

  • Posts and collects monthly temperature charts on all refrigeration.

  • Develops cafeteria menus.

  • Generates monthly reports.

  • Orders groceries etc. according to schedule.

  • Communicates well with coworkers and other staff served by the department.

  • Provides input on evaluation process as requested.

  • Follows all Standards of Behaviors.

  • Maintains a professional manner in conduct and appearance.

  • CDM credentials required to perform the following duties: Under the guidance of a Clinical Dietitian, competently completes clinical duties, resident's admissions, MDS, IDTs (SNF; LTC when needed), weight sheets, updates and diet changes. Reports any concerns/issues to the RD Manager and Clinical Dietitian effectively.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager
