Summary

Employee will serve as a Cook

  • Ingredient Control located at Puget Sound Health Care System within Nutrition and Food Services in Seattle, WA. Duties will include, but may not be limited to the following:

Responsibilities

Receives, separates and stores fresh, frozen, canned and dry food items, checking shipping and/or receiving documents against actual delivery, following HACCP standards, taking appropriate temperatures.
Issues food items (fresh, frozen, canned and dry) to production, nourishment and serving units and/or assembles to issue on mobile carts and racks.
Identifies pre-assembled and issued items with date and day to be issued.
Weighs, measures and packages ingredients required for calculated recipes and orders from bulk stock. Takes monthly inventory levels.
Rotates food items in freezers and refrigerators and from shelves using old items first, including milk, bread and fresh vegetables.
Assists in maintaining perpetual inventories of stock on hand, items received and issued and in taking monthly inventories. Ensures food cart set up are labeled, dated and covered.
Receives, stores and issues non-food items; handles and prepares food and non-food items in accordance with sanitation standards.
Maintains work areas and equipment in a sanitary and safe condition.
Uses a computer to enter, retrieve and print required information.
Prepares daily food orders for tray line cafeteria and room service, prepares daily tally of amounts types of diets served; tray tickets/nourishment orders based on Dietitian or Physicians orders, checks trays for accuracy.
Provides information to the tray line workers and prepares supplemental feedings, standing orders and tube feedings.
Work Schedule: Full Time, 5:30am

  • 2:00pm; 8:30am

  • 5:00pm; 9:30am

  • 6:00pm; Rotating schedules including Saturday-Sunday

Qualifications

PHYSICAL EFFORT : Uses both hands simultaneously. Frequently lifts or moves items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Occasionally lifts/moves heavier items with assistance. Pushes units on level or sloping surfaces. Continual standing, walking and frequent stooping, reaching, bending, pushing and pulling is involved.

WORK CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a hospital kitchen and other hospital areas.

Is exposed to extreme temperatures, humidity, slippery floors, noise, sharps objects, hot working surfaces, and hazardous chemicals. Contacts are with various types of patients including geriatric patients, emotionally disturbed patients and patients with infectious diseases. May work at a computer terminal.
