Loews Hotels & Co will venture into Kansas City, MO with the new Loews Kansas City Hotel, opening in the Spring of 2020. The 800-room hotel will feature 60,000 square feet of meeting & function space, with a sky bridge connecting to the 800,000 square foot Kansas City Convention Center. The hotel will mark the first hotel catering to groups & meetings to open in more than 20 years in Kansas City. Two signature restaurants, a Grab & Go bakery and a rooftop lounge will round out this all glass, 24 story hotel, which will stand out on the city's skyline. Loews Kansas City will be located at the cornerstone of an already vibrant and continuously growing downtown Kansas City.

Job Specific

  • Sets up and organizes work area with all necessary supplies and equipment

  • Receives, inspects, rotates all food products to ensure fresh, high quality ingredients are used

  • Prepares and stores raw food products properly

  • Follows standardized recipes in the preparation and cooking of menu items

  • Adheres to established portion control guidelines and minimizes waste

  • Plates foods according to established plating/presentation guidelines

  • Monitors finished product to ensure food is served promptly, notifies supervisor of any delays in service

  • Ensures that a quality product is prepared and served in a timely manner

  • Follows all Governmental Food Sanitation Standards at all times

  • Monitors refrigeration and holding temperatures, cleans and sanitizes work surfaces, washes hands frequently

  • Uses knives, slicers, mixers, choppers, grinders and all other equipment in a safe manner according to the manufactures recommendations

  • Notifies Supervisor of an equipment malfunction or safety hazards immediately

  • Provides Stewards with timely notification of needs for clean dishes, pots, pans etc.

  • Returns utensils to pot wash area, informs Steward of any HOT items

  • Cleans and breaks down work area, returns all ingredients to proper storage at end of shift

  • Ensures that all closing side work is complete, cooking equipment is turned off and kitchen is secure at end of shifts

  • Other duties as assigned

General

  • Promotes and applies teamwork skills at all times

  • Notifies appropriate individual promptly and fully of problems and/or areas of concern

  • Is polite, friendly, and helpful to guests, management and fellow team members

  • Executes emergency procedures in accordance with hotel standards

  • Complies with required safety regulations and procedures

  • Maintains cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment and work area

  • Recycles whenever possible

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent

  • Three + years cooking experience in upscale, high volume hotel or freestanding restaurant or post secondary culinary training/certification as "Cook" from a recognized culinary training school and two year hands on experience

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Food Service Sanitation Standards

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of standard kitchen equipment and its use

  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend; lift and carry up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to read, write and speak English

  • Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays

Successful candidates will have industry experience as well demonstrated experience leading a large group of associates and managers across multiple geographical locations. Additionally, it is critical for this individual to have a solid understanding of call center software applications to be able to successfully provide strategic direction and collaborations with peers. Technical aptitude is also vital within this role as the Director must be able to understand staffing models and align resources during peak volume seasons and unexpected changes. The ability to remain flexible and agile in thinking/acting is critical in achieving quality and timeliness service level standards mandated by partners and clients. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee all call center operations: * Achieve within-standard service levels through appropriate volume and staff planning * Meet quality service levels through monitoring and ongoing coaching * Provide daily feedback and coach direct reports in leadership and management of the daily business needs * Design and deliver differentiated client experiences by taking an "outside-in" view * Communicate with key business partners and clients on needs and issues * Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines * Drive initiatives that improve the client experience, increase productivity, improve quality and accuracy, and enhance associate engagement Use data analytics to study performance and define state-of-the-industry metrics while driving teams to meet those goals Ensure the appropriate Key Performance Indicators exist at all levels and that the supporting processes are in place to ensure best-in-class results are achieved on a consistent basis. Develop and manage organizational budgets, manage team to achieve financial targets, and identify/implement cost-saving initiatives aligned with strategic priorities Have a keen aptitude for technology, and work with our technology teams to evolve our roadmaps and adopt new tools for improving efficiency and quality. Identify and sponsor training initiatives that enhance performance across teams in line with overall business goals and objectives Provide mentoring & developmental opportunities to leadership in all facets of the client service roles Partner with VP of Client Services and peers in creating and managing a strategic plan for all areas of the operation; recommend proactive improvements with a budget-conscious viewpoint Facilitate and participate in meetings with partners; develop and maintain internal and external relationships across the organization Periodically oversee and assist with other functions and staffing needs for other areas Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.
