The ideal candidate will be able to perform the following job responsibilities:
Prepare food items in a sanitary and timely manner with minimal assistance
Follow written and verbal recipes
Exhibit good cleaning and sanitation skills
Assist with service of food to clients
Effectively stock shelves upon delivery of food items
Maintains clean work area - completes clean up and dishwashing duties as assigned
Safely operates all kitchen equipment
Adheres to all health and safety policies
Ensures all activities conform to The Refuge's standards
Seeks out information, innovative ideas and techniques relative to the dietary department
Participates in process/quality improvement activities of the company
Supervises the operation of the kitchen upon request of Sous Chef and/or Dietary Director
Post menu board
Perform all other duties as required
Requirements
HS Diploma/GED preferred
MINIMUM 4 years experience in restaurant or healthcare environment
Must have fluent knife skills
Must possess the ability to sauté, braise, grill and poach food items
Must protect and handle sensitive and confidential material and situations
Must identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
Must provide strong customer service
Must prioritize and plan work activities effectively
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
Must exhibit strong leadership skills
Knowledge of culinary terms
