Status: Non-Exempt, Full Time 40 hours/week

Hours: Varies, flexible schedule required

Schedule: 8-hour shifts, 5 days/week, rotating weekends

Overview

Porter Hills Village, Dining Services, provides culinary excellence across multiple dining venues: Main Dining Room, Cafe, and the Grille. This diverse culinary landscape offers an exciting and dynamic work environment for passionate cooks.

The Cook prepares wholesome and delicious meals in our scratch kitchen for older adults while bringing smiles to their faces through food.

What you'll do

• Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious meals for residents

• This position will float between our main dining serving meals, our café serving soups and sandwiches and our restaurant cooking to order

• Collaborate with our team to create healthy and flavorful dishes

• Cater to special dietary requirements and restrictions

• Ensure all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation

• Inspect and ensure that all side jobs and cleaning duties are performed and completed as scheduled in accordance with established policy and procedures

• Assist with inventory and stock

• Assist in food preparation and set up for special meals, parties and events.

What it takes

• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age

• HS Diploma/ GED required

• Experience in a professional kitchen as a cook, line cook, or prep cook in the food service industry required.

• Culinary Education, preferred

• ServSafe Certification, preferred

• Allergan Certification, preferred

• Ability to participate in frequent stooping and bending, lifting up to fifty (50) pounds
