Job summary: This position functions as part of a team that insures safe and fresh delivery of foods and services to patients as well as customers in a timely and professional manner.

1.Adheres to proper safety/sanitation standards, maintains a clean work area at all times.
2.Uses standardized recipes to prepare daily menu items and catered items, maintain and documents proper food temperatures and follow labeling protocol.
3.Follows daily production guidelines as directed by management.
4.Interacts with staff and customers in a courteous manner.
5.Familiarization with all cooking equipment as well as basic cooking methods; including presentation cooking for retail operations, as well as cooking to order, ala minute, on a typical restaurant-style hot line for room service.
6.Requisitions necessary food and supplies, maintaining established par levels in their related work area.
7.Physical job tasks include: continuous standing; frequent walking; lifting up to 20 lbs. continuously and up to 50 lbs. occasionally; carrying up to 20 lbs. continuously and up to 50 lbs. occasionally; pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs. continuously and up to 100 lbs. occasionally; frequent bending and reaching; continuous repetitive use of hands; machine operation; exposure to extreme hot/cold temperatures, exposure to gases, fumes, and chemicals

1.Perform other food service functions as requested by management.
2.Assist in training new staff.
3.Identifies malfunctioning equipment and notifies management in a timely manner.


High School diploma, GED, or culinary certification preferred, but not required.

State of Illinois Food Handler Training Certificate Program (ANSI Accredited) required prior to start of employment

VIEW JOBS 1/5/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-05T00:00 The primary purpose of your job position is to prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, with our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Executive Director, to assure that quality food service is provided at all times. * Review menus prior to preparation of food; and ensure that menus are maintained and filed in accordance with established policies and procedures. * Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submit to the Executive Director. * Ensure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies. * Assist in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished. * Assume the authority, responsibility and accountability of Head Cook. * Supervise and direct Dietary Staff to perform job tasks as required. * Process special requests for food changes as received from nurse. * Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus. * Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance. * Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures. * Responsible for creating meal portions, cleaning food, cooking meals and keeping a sanitized work area. * Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 3 feet. The hours for this position is 5 days/week with one weekend day from 11:30am-8:00pm. Skills necessary * 2 years of professional cooking experience. * Must have an Illinois Food Sanitation license. * Experience in senior living facility preferred. * Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities. * Must be knowledgeable of dietary procedures.
