VIEW JOBS 9/1/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-11-30T00:00 The Cook is responsible for the preparation of evening meals for patients, and facility staff in accordance with approved menu cycles and production sheets, providing assistance to the morning cooks for lunch service preparation; assists the Consultant Dietitian with preparing for special functions and other special events that may occur. Job Requirements JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education: High school diploma or GED required. Experience: Experience in quantity cooking required, at least two (2) years strongly preferred. Experience utilizing industrial kitchen equipment and utensils. Licensure/Certification: Training in food service sanitation, and possession of food service sanitation certificate as required. Successful completion of CPR certification within 90 days of employment. Knowledge/Skills: Basic knowledge of modified and therapeutic diets. Knowledge of basic food service sanitation. Knowledge of food portion and waste control. Knowledge of industrial kitchen operations and procedures. Knowledge of industrial equipment and utensils, and skill in utilizing such. Knowledge of basic equipment repairs and adjustments. Ability to cook in large quantities. Ability to perform office procedures in absence of the Dietary Manager. Ability to read menus and recipes. Effective oral and written communication skills. Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines. Must be a self-starter and goal/results-oriented. Ability to use good judgment and to maintain confidentiality of information. Strong customer service skills to external and internal customers. Ability to adhere to safety policies and code procedures react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to accept direction and adhere to policies and procedures. Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Ability to recommend/take corrective courses of action that would improve the functioning of the department's systems.
