SUMMARY OF WORK:
This position works as the cook in the Dietary Department at the Montana State Veterans Home. Responsible for the production and preparation of the dinner entrees according to the menu with adherence to special diets and choices.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Prepares the meal entrees using recipe cards following the daily menu. Prepares certain foods to adhere to special diets according to the diet manual.
Supervises the dishup of food on the serving line following the kardex. Cleans designated preparation and cooking areas. Washes pots and pans, properly stores leftovers and prepares for next days meals.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of techniques used for volume food production. Knowledge of general kitchen sanitation procedures.
Skill in preparing various recipes that are attractive and flavorful. Skill in being able to prepare special diet entrees that retain there taste and appeal. Ability to prioritize production steps in the time allotted for preparation of each meal. Must be able to lift 40 pounds and follow written and oral instructions.
