ABB Inc., in Auburn Hills, Michigan is seeking for a Controls Test Software Engineer to join our Robotics and Motion team, the first major global industrial robotics manufacturer to produce robots in the United States. Provide Controls Engineering Test Hardware and Software development, support and leadership along with direction to the organization through review, design, support, communication and execution of engineering, debug and validation. Successfully manage multiple application projects as a lead test engineer.
Support ABB installations of Powertrain Automated Systems. Support Lead Controls Project Engineer, development and troubleshooting of software solutions for Test and Gauge stations within powertrain assembly systems.
Lead test application hardware and software throughout the project. Engineer, Startup, Debug and Production support involving test applications.
Proven track record of leading test engineering, debug, and validation teams in a Powertrain assembly environment. Advanced training, knowledge, and awareness in Automated Systems and Robot Applications, functional knowledge of Robotics and/or Automation and functional experience working with engineering design projects and machine startup
Good working knowledge of mechanical systems Competence in hardware design involving PC based DAQ systems components, with strong knowledge of all types of sensors: ie. digital probes, LVDT, load cells, torque, temperature, pressure, flow, encoders, accelerometers
Experience with various DAQ modes: time based, angle based, order based, buffered acquisition; signal analysis experience with windowing, peak detection, FFT, filters; Statistical Process Analysis GR&R, CPK, Type 1 & 2 studies. LabVIEW programming, VFD and Servo Motors, Torque control applications (Nutrunners and fastening systems)
Test and Gauge stations, with Strong trouble shooting skills with history of solving complex problems, and functional experience with Auto-CAD/ePLAN.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 5 years of experience in automation, test, manufacturing, OR
Associate Degree in a Technical field and 7 years of experience in automation, test, manufacturing, OR
High School Diploma or GED and 9 years of experience in automation, test, manufacturing.
Open to travel about 25% of the time, mostly for customer sites.
Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the United States.
