To effectively perform all duties of an Electrical Controls Technician in an efficient manner, while following all company policies and procedures. The purpose of this position is to support and troubleshoot all industrial control systems including OEM “Original Equipment Manufacturer Control Systems”, process control systems, Wonderware SCADA systems, VFD’s, Servos, HMI’s and control networks. As well as support the team process by gaining the knowledge and skills to be able to proficiently operate all machinery associated with the specific team.

Controls Technician Job Functions

  • Run diagnostic tests on malfunctioning equipment, run diagnostics and repair in all areas of plant automation. Perform Preventative Maintenance, ensuring stock of critical spares, properly inputting data into the CMMS system, executing work orders, backing up programs and keeping prints and manuals up-to-date.
  • Troubleshoot and commission variable frequency drives, servo systems, robotics and industrial networks including Rockwell, Siemens, Beckoff and GE. Perform I/O checks and PLC upgrades as well as maintain and update documentation and performing control system backups.
  • Commission control systems, troubleshoot operational issues, perform equipment and process instrumentation calibration including flow transmitters, pressure transmitters, level sensors, etc.
  • Develop enhancements and improvements of industrial control schemes to drive operational improvements and cost reductions.
  • Troubleshooting PLC, HMI, motor and motor control problems
  • Maintain all PLC programs for all the systems assigned.
  • Troubleshoot control network problems. Understand and support the architecture and parameters of the network for PLC’s, Wonderware and Process Databases, including problems associated with wiring, and corrupted files, failed components and set-ups.
  • Completes assigned planned work orders, writes work requests and works with other team members in troubleshooting and repairing processing and packaging equipment.

Controls Technician Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Associates degree in electronics or associated field from a two-year college or technical school is preferred.
  • Two to five years’ industrial controls experience using Allen Bradley and RS Logix control platforms (ControlLogix, Simatic, PanelView Plus, RSView ME,) and similar control platforms.
  • At least understand the fundamentals of PLC’s
  • Software (AutoCAD, RSLogic, RSLinx, RSView ME, Wonderware, and MS Office).
  • Familiar with Rockwell PLC’s but not at the programmer level
  • Working knowledge of all automation standard practices as defined by the Instrument Systems and Automation (ISA).
  • Ability to fluently read, speak, write and comprehend the English language.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Position is in a 24/7 Facility so must be able to do shift work

Controls Technician Desired Experience

  • Food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Machine operation experience preferred.
  • Industrial maintenance and PLC experience preferred. Performing maintenance, Understand Networking – what it is and what it does – what are Switches, Hubs, etc)
  • Sound knowledge of electricity and electrical controls, lubrication, preventive maintenance, pneumatics, welding, and hydraulic systems.
  • Previous Electrical and Mechanical experience preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in electrical circuits
  • Welding, pneumatic, hydraulics, refrigeration, and boiler operation experience preferred but not required

We deliver fresh food daily that includes sandwiches, milk, bread, bakery and other items to convenience stores 365 days per year. SCHEDULE: * Third Shift: 4 nights on, three nights off. * Must be willing to work nights/weekends/holidays and extra hours if requested. BENEFITS: Medical, Dental, Life Insurance, Vision, Identity Theft, 401K, Employee Assistance Program JOB QUALIFICATIONS * Must be at least 18 years of age to operate company route truck, comply with D.O.T. regulations and have a valid Illinois Class B CDL driver's license. * Six months previous Route delivery driving and backing experience operating a box truck doing a physical job. * Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. : Associate's degree preferred * Must have previous lead or supervisory experience * Must be a good team player and be able to effectively communicate with CDC customers and employees. * Intermediate Computer Skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Explorer, Outlook. * Must be able to load truck, lift up to 75 pounds on a repetitive basis, push/pull up to 300 lbs of product using a four-wheel dolly. * Must have an MVR within established company guidelines. * Must be able to speak and understand the English language. * Must be able to pass a D.O.T. physical, drug screen and a criminal background check. * Must be willing to work nights/weekends/holidays and extra hours if requested. * Must have general math ability. * Must be able to work in CDC temperatures of 38-70 degrees F. * Must be able to work in all outside weather conditions. * Must be able to perform frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, and turning, frequent reaching over shoulder height, waist level and from floor. * Must be able to work in a fast-paced night time environment. RESPONSIBILITIES * Train/Coach All Drivers: This will include training of all new drivers following the Training Guideline/Best Practices. * Assist Supervisor and lead/coordinate Monthly and Quarterly Driver Safety Training. * Assist Supervisor with driver scheduling and helping to ensure all routes are covered every night. * Monitor fleet of trucks daily to ensure all trucks are clean including swept out and properly Pre-Cooled before loading. * Understand, monitor and utilize iBright system including the tablets to ensure routes/drivers are following best practices, proper rules and regulations. * Assist and ensure all BT processes are being followed by each driver, each night, which also includes all drivers completing daily paperwork including manifests, FER's, DOT log and Driver issue log accurately. * May have to run routes in absence of regular Drivers including shuttle routes. * Learn and assist Driver Supervisor with routing efficiencies and re-routes. * Learn and Understand and follow processes for CDC vehicle crash and workman comp reporting procedures and help drivers in completing incident reports and contacting Fleet Response. * Understands and follows the procedures for roadside service assisting drivers with any issues that occur. * Utilizes and follows Best Practices and promotes Best Practices to all drivers. * Perform ride-along training of new drivers and evaluations of drivers. * Help drivers load and unload trucks. * Monitor and provide feedback regarding the operations, training, coaching and performance of the CDC Delivery Team and Drivers. * Be a role model for all drivers. * Assist Drivers with BOTA Audits when necessary. * Participate in regular meetings with the Drivers and Supervisors which will include attending and participating in staff meetings with the management team. * Provide Driver Supervisor and General Manager with feedback on store delivery or employee issues including customer service relations in resolving issues at the stores. * Assist Supervisor with interviews, paperwork, training, performance evaluations. * Work safely and carefully at all times. Lead the safety efforts with the drivers and participate in safety meetings. * Assist Non-CDL drivers in the training to obtain their CDL permit and License. * Assist and support overall Delivery Operation and working with and supporting the Warehouse Operation to benefit overall success of the Chicago CDC Operation. * Participates in the HACCP Audit and CDC Balance Scorecard Audit. * Successfully complete the mandatory E.
