The Controls Technical Specialist is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining and enhancing the accuracy, reliability and system control's data credibility of PLC and PC based automation systems.

In this role, you will oversee PLC upgrades and wiring modifications on production equipment. In addition, the Controls Technical Specialist will work directly with our maintenance team to troubleshoot and support production line modifications.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Configure, program and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controls (PLC)

  • Perform Preventive Maintenance for controls and organize electrical/control parts inventory.

  • Provide programming and electrical support on plant capital projects

  • Implement control systems software upgrade

  • Provides instrumentation, PLC and Human Machine Interface and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (HMI/SCADA) software and hardware support to plant maintenance staff

Perform all other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum):

Associates of Applied Science in a technical discipline

AND
1+ years of applicable experience in PLC software and hardware troubleshooting and/or PC-based HMI-systems

Railhead Ave. Flagstaff, AZ JOB SUMMARY This series exists to provide and preserve a safe and efficient transportation system for the traveling public as well as being courteous, considerate and prompt in dealing with and serving the public. This position, specifically, serves in the maintenance and operation traffic signal, ITS and roadway lighting systems. This position requires employee to participate in rotation-based 24 hour call back program. Note: Positions will be assigned based off of experience and qualifications listed below. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES SLATE Technician 1 $21.5092/hr. Grade 18: This is the entry level for the SLATE series. Performs a broad scope of basic level electrical, electronic and/or mechanical duties related to the inspection, installation, maintenance and/or repair of traffic signals, roadway lighting, and intelligent transportation systems. Performs basic contract management, quality assurance, and inspection duties associated with traffic signals, roadway lighting, and intelligent transportation systems as required. Works under supervision with considerable on-the-job training. Employee may face hazards associated with electricity, falling objects, falls, confined space, drowning, engulfment, traffic, extreme climate and environment, heavy equipment, noise, hazardous materials, and operation of powered and non-powered tools. Will have experience: * With heavy/motorized equipment operation * Equivalent to the appropriate technical level in the public or private sector Requirements: * SLATE Tech 1 must have an Arizona CDL (Class "A") permit prior to start date. Must be able to obtain an Arizona Class "A" Commercial Driver's license (CDL) for a manual transmission (no automatic only restriction) within 6 months of appointment. * Must be able to Push/Pull 50 lbs. and Lift/Carry 50 Lbs. * Must be able to perform tasks while in a bucket up to 100 feet in the air. Performs and may direct staff in a broad scope of advanced level electrical, electronic and/or mechanical duties related to the inspection, installation, maintenance and/or repair of traffic signals, roadway lighting, and intelligent transportation systems. Position includes significant record keeping documentation and project inspection. Provides advice and resolves problems; participates in work activities as required. Schedules and assigns work activities; approves inspection project documentation reports; determines and select alternatives in materials or equipment, has authority to inspect and determine the need for repairs or replacement; recommends ordering of materials and equipment; works under supervision while providing training to lower level technicians; interprets specification requirements, performs contract management and quality assurance as required, reviews plans and special provisions for ongoing projects.
