Controls Project Engineer

Job Summary:

Our client in Sterling Heights, MI is looking for a Controls Project Engineer. This is a long-term contract position.

What You Will Do:

The Controls Project Engineer leads the design effort when multiple Controls Engineers are assigned to complete a project and maintain continuity. The Controls Project Engineer designs, checks, and troubleshoots electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic and water designs per assigned project. The objective is to design products to perform effectively and to be cost efficient. The ideal candidate is an experienced CPE with minimum of three years GM experience including GCCH and GCCS certifications.

What You Will Need:

Basics:

  • Supports job project from inception through completion of program.

  • Organizes and control all designated engineering, concepts, proposals, layouts, details, and reviews these with the customer.

  • Attends to customer requirements. Take and keep minutes of customer meetings.

  • Reviews all drawings prior to final release and insures compliance for project internal buyoffs

  • Controls the Engineering Project Controls budget and ensures designs are cost effective.

  • Ensures engineering compliance with all customer and or other pertaining specifications. Ensure company awareness to specifications.

  • Organizes revisions

  • Creates change information for estimating.

  • Aids proposal department in estimating, and conception of, new projects.

  • Understands and follows safety environmental regulations and identifies safety environmental concerns.

  • Adheres to the Quality System and participates in continuous improvement.

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from a four year college or university; or 2+years related experience and or training; or equivalent combination

Preferred:

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree (EE, CS).
  • GM Experience and GCCH, GCCS certifications

This is a contract position. What You Will Do: Our Client is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer to work in the area of electrified powertrain control development. The primary responsibility of this role is developing running control software of e-Drive for heavy duty truck electrified powertrain applications. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support, with general guidance and coaching, the development of electrified vehicle powertrain e-Drive kits for heavy duty truck applications. * Designing and calibrating control software to deliver torque and speed to the wheels utilizing related powertrain component * Working with controllers necessary to communicate and carry out the powertrain function in * delivering requested torque and speed, within system limitations * Bringing vetted ideas for solving development data communication strategies for CAN gateway functionality * Supporting fault detection and diagnostic requirements for all related functions * Working closely with systems, wire harness, hardware electronics and component engineers Basics: * Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering * Minimum of 2 years of experience in powertrain controls development * Ability to understand, modify, and create powertrain control software * Ability to understand system level powertrain schematics * Proficient in computer programming (C++, Unix, MATLAB, or Simulink) * Highly motivated self-starter with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills * Excellent interpersonal skills including the desire to thrive in a fast-paced environment * Not afraid to get your hands dirty to address challenges (design it, build it, fix it) Preferred: * Experience in electrified powertrain running controls development * Ability to troubleshoot software control logic in a variety of conditions How You Will Be Successful: * Envision the Future * Communicate Honestly and Broadly * Seek Technology and Business "First" * Embrace Diversity and Take Risks What We Offer: * Competitive Salary * Comprehensive Benefit Package * 401(k) with matching contributions * Paid Time Off * Employee Discounts * Free training on all Altair products Why Work with Us: Altair is a global technology company that provides software and cloud solutions in the area of data analytics, product development, and high-performance computing (HPC).
