Job Description Summary

Responsible for ensuring that the assigned business unit policies, procedures and practices align with Bank of the West 1st or 2nd line of defense Operation Risks and Compliance requirements. Provides support tasks for continuous enhancements of the Business Line 1st line of defense set-up. Acts as a resource for Level 1 questions and issues from the branch network arising from procedures and customer requirements related to the bank's Know Your Customer program and policies.

Essential Job Functions

  • Partners with the assigned Business Group affected by changing laws, regulations or policies to ensure that appropriate changes are implemented

  • Supports the assigned Business Group to respond to Regulatory / Audit inquiries and assist with evidence gathering as requested.

  • Identify and report/escalate alerts on issues related to "Know Your Customer" Compliance.

  • Implements established procedures/policies and ensures Business Unit compliance with 1st Line of Defense and BNPP requirements. Knowledgeable in industry best practices and systems.

  • Maintains current knowledge of related banking activities, operational risk management and regulatory compliance requirements for financial institutions.

  • Assists in developing and maintaining department policies and procedures in support of the Bank's Integrated Operational Risk Framework and/or industry best practices.

  • May assist with dispositioning of new accounts in the new customer on boarding process and preparation of new customer documentation for escalation to the Customer Acceptance Committee.

  • Facilitates communication internally with branches to collect required compliance documentation related to "Know Your Customer" and High Risk Customer Types.

Other Job Duties

  • Assists with the management of account closure process for KYC Operations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

VIEW JOBS 11/9/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-07T00:00 Position Description The KYC Analyst is responsible for conducting in depth review and analysis of legal documentation and other related information to ensure the appropriate Customer Due Diligence (CDD) on commercial customer relationships is conducted per bank policy and applicable regulations. This position is responsible for ensuring that the appropriate customer risk profile is identified, as well as the frequency and depth of future review and monitoring. Requirements: * Demonstrated understanding of KYC, CDD and AML/BSA regulations * Working knowledge of money laundering risks presented by personal and business customers through the nature of transaction activity, geographic risks, type of business entity/formation and beneficial ownership/control * Understanding of legal governing documents required for different types of business formations (e.g., types of LLCs, trusts, partnerships, joint ventures, corporations, etc.,) and how each are owned and controlled * Basic knowledge of banking services and products * Strong judgment and analytical thinking skills * Strong oral and written communication skills including ability to create organized and in-depth analysis summaries * Ability to work in a fast paced environment, able to prioritize and work in an organized fashion * Knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel and Outlook, Internet search engines. Daily review of CIP items for customer verification. When needed, escalate requests for further documentation to the Line of Business (LOB) to ensure compliance with internal policies. * Review Customer Due Diligence information for accuracy and investigate discrepancies. * Must have the ability to dissect complex organizational structures to complete due diligence. * Identify Higher Risk clients and obtain Enhanced Due Diligence where appropriate. * Responsible for assisting with the implementation and monitoring of a risk-based compliance program to assure compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory requirements. * Participates in and provides compliance support for projects and initiatives with low to high risk to identify, assess and mitigate BSA/AML risk in business activities. * Ability to coach and mentor business partners on complex documentation requirements. * Accountable for strict adherence to all regulatory deadlines, internal service level agreements, production expectations, and consistent and accurate application of policies and procedures. * Demonstrated knowledge of Negative News and associated analysis and documentation requirements. Core Competencies required: * Familiarity with and working knowledge of BSA/AML programs including all aspects of KYC . * Proven ability to collaborate with all levels of management and functional groups * Proven leadership, exceptional communication and relationship building skills * Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and tasks simultaneously * Sound analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills * On-boarding KYC customer processing experience strongly preferred * Experience in risk assessment, reputation and operational risk management or control functions * Thorough understanding of CIP/CDD/EDD requirements * Exposure to regulatory controls in a financial services environment * Ability to be objective and capable of independent challenge * Knowledge of Commercial Banking and related products * Strong analytical, and critical reasoning skills * Ability to quickly gain understanding of internal controls of previously unfamiliar areas * Ability to focus on details while constantly keeping the big picture in mind * Excellent communication and relationship/partnership building skills * Proven ability in achieving success in a fast-paced deadline driven environment and possess a high level of drive and enthusiasm * Ability to influence and drive for results and process improvement * Experience in reporting risk findings and preparing written risk analyses * Strong negotiation skills, including the ability to negotiate with numerous parties and reach agreeable solutions. * Proficiency in Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SharePoint * Demonstrated experience as a collaborator who has built successful relationships and influenced across the business lines. * Computer proficiency including databases, and an understanding of banking systems and software.
