Honeywell Intelligrated is seeking a Controls Field Service Engineer to join our growing team of Tilt Tray and Cross belt product support group.

A Controls Field Service Engineer at Honeywell Intelligrated is passionate about automated electrical and control systems, a self-motivated professional, and strives to be at the leading edge of control system technology. Controls Field Service Engineers are primarily responsible for effectively and efficiently troubleshooting and isolating technical/controls problems reported from customers, distributors, or subcontractors. In addition, a Controls Field Service Engineer is the primary electrical and controls system owner for implementation of modifications and upgrades at a customer site. As such, you will be part of a group of highly committed professionals who provide expertise and ensure the successful execution of projects at a customer site.

In this role, the Controls Field Service Engineer will have the following primary responsibilities:

  • Prepare and execute Tilt Tray and Cross Belt projects from start to finish

  • Work with design engineers and programmers to develop schematics, test plans, and user guides

  • Interface with industry leading customers

  • Program and test VFDs, PLCs, and electrical control panels

  • Attend all project related turnover meetings, functional design reviews and team meetings

  • Fully understand scope, budgets, and schedules for the project

  • Review initial project schedule and identify gaps or changes needed

  • Maintain and track issues list, reporting to his Supervisor and Project Manager as required

  • Perform controls and electrical testing to provide feedback to the design engineers and programmers

  • Complete all on-site testing and provide red-lines of schematics

  • Work alone or as part of a team onsite depending on the scope and magnitude of the project

  • Provide site/field reports daily, including progress, issues, and next steps, as requested

  • Deliver successful final material handling systems to the customer

  • Attend emergency service support at customer facilities

  • Provide in-depth technical training to customers.

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent. Some experience in the field

  • Microsoft Office experience (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, One note)

  • Siemens S7 experience

  • Rockwell Studio 5000 experience

  • 3 -5 years of PLC experience / automation programming

  • 3-5 years of troubleshooting electrical circuits, 3 phase motors, and VFD programming experience

  • 3-5 years of troubleshooting with voltmeter, amp probe, oscilloscope, network analyzer

  • Safety control system experience

  • Fieldbus knowledge (Profibus, Ethernet, ControlNet etc.)

  • Networking experience (RS-485, ethernet, TCP/IP)

  • Controls system experience (Unix, Linux, Windows 7/10)

  • Technical writing and public speaking

  • Detailed oriented

  • UL, NEC, and NFPA 70E knowledge

  • A valid driver's license

  • A valid Passport

  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and abroad 90% of the time, work nights and/or weekends.


  • Deep understanding of electrical engineering and network drawings

  • Capability to complete demanding assignments by using electrical engineering knowledge and tools

  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams to deliver optimal solutions

  • Clearly and concisely convey subtle or complex messages to a non-technical audience

  • Capability to follow guidelines and ensure efficiency on given project tasks

  • Excellent computer literacy and technical writing

  • Ability to focus on essential information and identify key details (detail oriented)

  • Ability to quickly analyze, incorporate and apply latest information and concepts. Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision

  • Be able to work alone or as part of a team

  • Be able to lead and supervise cross-functional teams on the field

  • Willingness to consistently take the initiative to get things done and do things before being asked by others or forced to by events

Our Field Service Engineers are on the front-line, interfacing with our customers on a daily basis, keeping their systems up and running, ensuring optimal system performance, and improving patient safety, which in turn allows doctors and nurses to focus on critical patient care in hospitals across North America. Field Service Engineers perform all Customer Support duties and responsibilities relating to Swisslog products (AMTS and ADMS), including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, warranty service, emergency service, on-call service, start-up of current systems, operator maintenance and user training, and promotion of company products and services as required. Your Tasks: Perform all Customer Support Duties and Responsibilities relating to Swisslog Material Handling Systems including: * Provide scheduled preventive maintenance services to contract customers in assigned area * Provide on-demand corrective, 24/7 emergency, and paid services to customers in assigned area as required * Provide start-up services on Translogic Systems as assigned * Assist with start-up services on new Swisslog products as required, working closely with the assigned Installation Specialists * Report product quality issues to assigned Senior Field Service Engineer and/or Customer Care Manager and file quality reports as directed/required * Train Swisslog customers on system and light maintenance operations * Promote parts orders, provide recommended parts lists to clients and recommend inventory stocking levels to customers as required * Conduct periodic customer care visits to monitor product performance and customer satisfaction; * Maintain accountability/inventory of assigned spare parts (crash kit) and customers' consignment inventories when inventories are contractually maintained by Swisslog * Assist all customers within assigned area with parts orders, consumables, repair and return of defective parts, and requests for information pertaining to their systems * Advise Customer Care Manager of any problems or opportunities that arise within their area of responsibility * Ensure that required administrative paperwork, Service Work Orders, Expense Reports and Downtime Reports, and start-up logs are properly filled out and processed in a timely manner * Communicate and share information with sales personnel and support personnel as it relates to their assigned customer base * Exercise proper care and accountability of all assigned company property, be mindful in spending company's money and resources responsibly, and exercise proper care and responsibility when working with customers' property and/or facilities * Maintain a clean and professional appearance at all times when working with customers * Adhere to and strictly enforce all company safety policies and procedures * Attend required training programs to keep current on system updates * Position may require some travel as well as holiday and weekend work Your Profile: * Vocational school, related military experience, or job experience equivalent * 1-3 years field service experience with electro-mechanical products * Successful candidates will have an effective communication style that builds customer's trust and satisfaction * Ability to read blue prints, schematics and wiring diagrams to extract necessary technical information * Exceptional interpersonal skills (customer service skills) and communication skills * PC Computer software and hardware literate/Windows Application experience * Basic computer networking skills * Must be a self-starter, well organized, and be able to work independently without supervision Desirable but not Essential: * Experience working in a mission-critical, on-call environment is desirable * Associate's Degree from a Technical or Vocational School preferred Eligibility Requirements: * Ability and willingness to travel 30 to 70% of the time for technical support and training purposes. * Ability and willingness to work on-call hours including weekend, night, and/or holiday work * Ability and willingness to lift, lower and carry objects up to 50 lbs., work from heights, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces * Must have a valid driver's license and excellent driving record We Offer: Swisslog offers challenging work in a globally networked environment as well as competitive base salary, comprehensive benefits including health/dental and above-market 401K!
