Job Summary

  • Responsible for managing, interpreting, designing, organizing, executing, and coordinating projects.

  • Plans, designs, develops and executes Remote Monitoring and Control (RMC) projects. Example projects include supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, stand-alone control systems, setting up an RMC system for an existing control system, troubleshooting, system startups, etc.

  • Manages multiple smaller projects or one or two large projects. Schedules project staff, assign work, tracks progress, reports to the client and management.

  • Maintains liaison with subcontractors and parent company.

  • Responsible for the profitability of projects, and satisfying client expectations.

  • Perform work in a professional, productive and safe manner.

  • Continually strive to improve the Offices and ones own, health & safety performance.

  • Adopt the principles of SCSs Safety Culture.

  • Understand the Companys philosophy regarding behavior-based safety and play a part in eliminating unsafe practices and conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Design and Engineering

  • Design control systems and SCADA systems

  • Program and review programming for PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems

Project Management

  • Work with Controls Specialists and/or other personnel to implement projects giving appropriate consideration to scope, schedule, profit, staffing, health and safety, and our clients expectations

  • Develop and submit monthly invoices, assist with billing projections, and status of contracts

Business Development

  • Provide support to the RMC Regional Manager and National Director to build the RMC business line.

  • Working in conjunction with the RMC Regional Manager and National Director prepare proposals and cost estimates.

  • Foster a cooperative working relationship with all SCS groups and corporate staff; exchange technical and business development information.

  • Learn and demonstrate new SCS RMC modules and product offerings; stay current on new developments in the technology and environmental management fields.


  • Review, approve and submit timesheets, expense reports, equipment logs, mileage logs, etc.

  • Maintain a personal code of conduct that reflects company philosophy, policy, and procedures, and sets the standard for all staff members.

  • Demonstrate by approach to decision making and interaction with staff that the company has high standards of excellence, plans for strategic long-term growth, and respects the individual efforts of its employees.

  • Work to maintain/improve morale through involvement of employees (as appropriate) in the decision-making process, on-the-job training, outside training, and establishment of long-term opportunities for staff members.


  • 5 or more years of relevant experience working in the controls field required.

  • Strong oral presentation, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and foster a team spirit with all levels of personnel.

  • Experience or demonstrated high degree of aptitude in controls/SCADA/RMC work; analytical problem solving and data analysis; interpretation of plans, specifications, schematics, manufacturers manuals, system operation and maintenance manuals; interpretation of applicable codes and regulations.

  • Valid drivers license with a driving record in good standing required.
