Position Description:

Our vision for this position is to plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing processes in industrial plant by performing the following duties.

This position is necessary to support daily activities of production from upgrading equipment and introducing alternate procedures to lower cycle times while increasing production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Analyze equipment/systems throughout the plant on improvements, specifications, designs to maintain and improve to offer effective uptime and continuous improvement.

  • Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate equipment and make necessary modifications.

  • Compute dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.

  • Programming/Troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLC's, SLC 500, Series 5

  • Assist in trouble shooting Electrical/Mechanical systems; servo drives, press controls, panel views, robotic controllers, electrical programs.

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, controls, devices, and systems to improve overall productivity, safety in line with continuous improvement systems.

  • Responsible for engineering, programming, installation and recording data in regard to electrical/electromechanical information on the production floor and facility.

  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

  • Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.

  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.

  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

  • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.

  • Ability to work overtime

Minimum Requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four year college or university; or five years related experience in field with proven success in Electrical Engineering design, programming, troubleshooting and practical implementation.

Skills and Abilities

  • Robotics (ABB, Nachi Robots Preferred)

  • Experience writing PLC Programs from concept

  • Control Logix, SLC 500 series and Micro Logix, and Safety PLC: Pilz and Guard Logics

  • Perform Root Cause Analyste

  • Poka Yoke Design

  • Stamping Press Controls including Transfer Systems, Preferred

  • Wintress Press Controls, Preferred

  • Robot Resistance and Mig weld processes

  • Medar weld controllers

  • AC, DC Servo Drives experience

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, customers, plant personnel, regulatory agencies, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Plans and formulates engineering program and organizes project staff according to project requirements. Assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of projects. * Works with corporate sales in quoting new tooling programs for future business. * Reviews product, tooling and equipment design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications. * Coordinates activities with vendors or other departments concerning tooling and equipment procurement or modification. * Works with customers and quality assurance in resolving design and test problems. Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications and drawing releases. * Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget. * Helps troubleshoot difficult tooling, equipment and quality issues. * Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow and design layout of equipment and work space form maximum efficiency. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no direct supervisory responsibility. Minimum Requirements Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree (BS) from a four-year college or university; and two to five years tooling/project engineering experience in a metal stamping environment (preferably in a tier one automotive supplier) and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience such as Tool & Die Journeyman status. Required Experience: Progressive and Transfer stamping dies up to 1500 tons. Skills and Abilities Abilities (i.e. Language Skills, Reasoning Ability, Computer Skills) * Must be proficient with MicroSoft Excel to develop spreadsheets and Timing plans * Microsoft Power-Point for presentations * Needs a working knowledge of basic accounting principles to develop improvements that require a business plan. * Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. * Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. * Proficient with AutoCad or other Drafting programs Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Journeyman Toolmaker Certification preferred.
