Position Overview

The Electrical Engineer in Sealed Air helps us execute projects across the globe by always driving our customer's success by upgrading our manufacturing capabilities, providing creative solutions with your outstanding engineering skills, leading with your strong project management and electrical design skills, building the best working environment, and partnering with diverse and multicultural teams to keep us as the best in the packaging industry.

  • To use your Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of electrical design, project engineering and strong technical skills to solve complex engineering challenges from solution development, equipment specification, design to start up.

  • To use your technical prowess, willingness to learn and innate curiosity to engineer advanced control systems for our production lines. In this role, you'll design, program, and refine control systems, drawing on your familiarity with PLCs (primarily Allen Bradley), HMIs (Ignition), and industrial networks like Ethernet IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and Modbus as well as configure motor control systems, variable frequency drives, and design electrical distribution systems across 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems. Your contributions will not only align with our goals but also echo our commitment to leaving the world better than we found it.

  • To play a pivotal role in advancing our proprietary technology. Your expertise will be crucial in improving equipment reliability, from troubleshooting to designing upgrades for high voltage power supplies and accelerators, and associated control systems. In our collaborative lab environment, you'll bring prototypes to life, driving innovation from concept to reality. Alongside a dedicated project team, you'll oversee the design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and startup of such technology including control systems and auxiliary equipment.

  • To elevate our manufacturing processes as a recognized expert in extrusion and converting production equipment. Your role is instrumental in our transition to Manufacturing 4.0, where you'll design innovative software tools to enhance plant floor transparency, streamline operations, and boost efficiency. You'll implement systems to monitor machine parameters, analyze data, and apply exploratory logic to decode complex equipment behaviors, paving the way to predict and preempt equipment failures.

  • Our manufacturing operations will see you in a leading role in the project's full life cycle management. Therefore, as the project manager, you will be involved with generating estimates, planning, managing stakeholders, meeting milestones, executing, and closing the project.

  • To use your communication skills as a key to successful and effective project management.

Qualifications

  • Enthusiastic, proactive, driven with a passion for problem solving and the ability to work collaboratively as part of an integrated team and a strong sense of responsibility.

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience with electrical controls design and project engineering.

  • Candidate must be willing to learn and follow the National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E, IEEE 1584, and National Electric Safety Code.

  • Experience with 3D/2D CAD (Solidworks/AutoCAD/DraftSight) for interpreting, modifying, and developing electrical drawings.

  • Experience with designing, programming, commissioning and troubleshooting control systems, including PLC's (AB), HMIs, AB Point IO, etc.

  • Proficient in setting up and maintaining industrial networks (Ethernet IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus), etc. Familiarity with OPC UA, MQTT and other I4.0 protocols is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to configure motor control systems, variable frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems.

  • Experience with programming software such as RSLogix5000, Studio 5000 Logix and View Designer, Ignition, and other controls software platforms.

  • Able to configure and manage PID process control loops.

  • Familiarity with project management skills, including generating estimates, planning, stakeholder management, meeting milestones, and executing projects through to completion, with a strong emphasis on technical projects.

  • Excellent skills with MS Office and project management tools.

  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills, a collaborative work style and ability to effectively work with an interdisciplinary team.

  • Ability and willingness to travel (25%-30%).

  • High voltage DC power supplies and power electronics experience will be a plus, but not required.

  • Work experience in manufacturing, plastic packaging or extrusion a plus, but not required.
