Job Summary

  • Supports a regulated business from an electrical and automation perspective.

  • Manage Capital projects from concept to full implementation.

  • Perform design and engineering functions in accordance with accepted practices and company standards.

  • Troubleshoot equipment and validate controls/elctrical systems to ensure reliability in operating environments.

  • Provide every day support to the manufacturing plant: continuous improvement programs, production departments, maintenance personnel, etc.

  • Manage the IT infrastructure & network program


  • Responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient performance of the automated plant processes, systems and lines.

  • Provides advanced process/electrical/controls support.

  • Programs and troubleshoots all aspects of electrical control systems including PLCs, robotics, servos, VFDs, and HMIs

  • Develop PLC/HMI logic designs (Rockwell Control logics and Compact logics)

  • Lead capital projects and provide controls & electrical technical work stream leadership.

  • Support capital projects such as new product and packaging material testing/start-ups, site improvements, etc.

  • Drives Breakdown Elimination culture

  • Collaborate with Project Engineering to ensure system functionality & achieve vertical start-ups with long term sustainable performance.

  • Conduct electrical and controls capacity and obsolescence studies, track and enhance system reliability and identify/implement productivity improvements including new technologies.

  • Lead continuous improvement activities to drive equipment availability, quality and performance.

  • Develop/maintain strategic technical improvement plans for electrical and controls systems.

  • Lead and maintain the strategy and implementation for plant layout, specification of components for control panels, and overall controls design for processing, packaging, facilities, and utilities control architecture

  • Role Model troubleshooting through the use of continuous improvement techniques.

  • Develop and deliver technical training for various levels of the organization.

  • Own the site power system, become the initial site Electrical System Owner and train technicians to assume future ownership of this role.


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.

  • 5+ years related experience.

  • Strong PLC/HMI software programming experience.

  • Controls hardware design and configuration experience.

  • Working knowledge and experience with electrical codes and safety standards.

  • Proven trouble shooting skills are necessary.

  • Strong operational knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment

  • Advance knowledge of electrical safety and inspections

  • Advance programing skills and troubleshoot all aspects of electrical control systems including PLCs, robotics, servos, VFDs, and HMIs using a laptop with Allen Bradley software.

  • Advance knowledge of facility building utility systems (chillers, cooling tower, air compressors, vacuum Pumps, dust collector, air handling units, etc.).

  • Root Cause Analysis (problem identification, analysis, creativity, application of corrective action).

  • Advance skills on:

  • RSLogix 5 and 500

  • Studio 5000

  • Factory Talk

  • Programmable Logic Controllers

  • Servo Systems

  • 1394 GML

  • Direct Current Drives

  • AC & DC Drives

  • HMI Controls (i.e. Panelview, Wonderware).

  • Vision inspection systems (ie. Systech)

  • Ultrasonic sealing equipment

  • Advance knowledge of the operation of converting and packaging equipment.

  • Must have working knowledge of data networks, switches, routers and servers.

  • Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Able to read/ interpret Electrical, Pneumatic, and Logic Schematics.

  • Basic Math and computer skills.

  • Advance Mechanical System'sKnowledge.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Technical writing.

  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to be responsible for leading and performing electrical design and to assist in the business development for electrical and mechanical disciplines within our Transportation and Infrastructure Sector with the ultimate goal of growing an MEP engineering practice in our Albany, New York Office. This is an excellent technical leadership position for a proficient engineer to influence production of engineering design for a national client base in an internationally recognized global firm in a field designated for expansion. Duties and Responsibilities A. Position primarily involves leading and performing electrical power distribution systems engineering, and associated control systems engineering design for various building, campus, roadway and tunnel facilities including: heavy rail transit systems, light rail transit systems, roadway tunnel and supporting facilities, airports, pumping stations, industrial, commercial and institutional projects. Technical and resource support will be available from the Northeast Region's Mechanical/Electrical Groups in other locations. Candidate's responsibilities to include: 1.) Serve as a project technical lead and perform electrical design criteria documents, electrical design directive drawings, electrical standard design drawings, electrical systems basis of design documents, electrical system calculations, electrical system technical analyses, electrical system contract design drawings, outline specifications and performance based specifications for electrical power distribution systems, involving: * Service utility coordination * Power distribution at high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage * Lighting and lighting control systems design * Fire alarm * Low voltage infrastructure * Emergency power systems * UPS system design * Design coordination with mechanical, plumbing and architectural design disciplines * Miscellaneous control design for mechanical systems such as low point and storm water pumps, sewerage ejector pumps or ventilation fans 2.) Prepare facility equipment electrical control system engineering analyses, reports and design documents for power equipment including: equipment circuit breaker schematic control diagrams, equipment block diagrams, equipment elementary wiring diagrams, equipment load shed controls, connection diagrams, and local control station design. 3.)
