We are seeking a skilled and experienced Controls Engineer with a specialization in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and implement control systems to improve manufacturing processes. This position requires a deep understanding of automation, programming, industrial control systems, and database management for storing machine data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • PLC Programming and Development: Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems. Develop and modify PLC programs using various programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text, function block). Implement HMI (Human-Machine Interface) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.

  • System Integration: Integrate PLCs with other industrial automation systems, including sensors, actuators, obsolete PLC families, motor drives, and communication networks. Work with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, software) to ensure seamless integration of control systems.

  • Testing and Validation: Conduct system testing and validation to ensure proper functionality and performance. Debug and resolve issues with control systems to maintain optimal performance.

  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation, including wiring diagrams, control schematics, and user manuals. Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for control system operations.

  • Project Management: Lead and manage control system projects from conception through completion. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

  • Support and Maintenance: Provide technical support and training to maintenance and production personnel. Perform regular maintenance and updates to control systems to ensure reliability and efficiency.

  • Database Management: Implement and manage databases for storing machine data. Ensure the integrity, performance, and security of the data collected from control systems.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to existing control systems to enhance performance and efficiency. Stay current with advancements in control system technology and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in controls engineering with a focus on PLC programming and development. Proven experience with major PLC platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Automation Direct). Experience with HMI and SCADA systems design and implementation.

  • Technical Skills: Proficient in PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text, function block diagram). Strong understanding of electrical and control system design principles.

    Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus). Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical manuals. Knowledge of database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) for storing and managing machine data.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

    Strong project management and organizational abilities. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Certifications (Preferred): Certification in PLC programming or industrial automation.
