This position provides technical support in the operation of the Simsbury, CT site as it relates to process equipment power and controls including troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, upgrades and process improvements.
Demonstrate and/or lead the commitment of achieving Zero Harm through behavioral based safety programs.
Ensure compliance with applicable HSE performance standards, objectives and regulations.
Live and foster the IPL Corporate Values.
Assist in the development of the electrical and controls team.
Investigation, troubleshooting and repairing of controls related issues and interfaces.
Design modification of electrical & control enclosures, consoles, panel layouts, wiring & interconnections & BOMs.
Programming of PLCs & Operator Interface Terminals (HMI's).
Participate in HSE activities such as Job Safety Analysis, HAZOPs, Process Hazard Analysis, Energy Control efforts and Management of Change processes.
Maintain and repair overall Controls Technology which integrate to machinery such as PLC's, HMI's, industrial data networking, sensing, robotics, motion control and vision systems.
Documentation within the SAP Plant Maintenance program.
Revise and develop electrical and control maintenance routines and procedures.
Conduct hardware selection (PLCs, Motor & Motion Controls, Servo Systems, Sensors, Vision Systems, Process Instrumentation, Temperature Control & Robotics).
Assist internal support staff, or external contractors, to ensure project objectives are met safely.
Research existing problems in legacy equipment and accurately identify potential causes.Sometimes without historical documentation.
Participate actively in Problem-Solving initiatives.
Support Continuous Improvement events with expertise and insight.
Identify and implement systems improvements and upgrades.
Actively participate in the Electrical Classification Committee.
Assist with Process and equipment design development for product/process integration and manufacturability.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and ability to program PLC Technology, (HMI) operator interface terminals, controls, robotics and vision systems.
Knowledge of safety interlocking devices.
Familiar with applicable code compliance including NEC, OSHA, NFPA 30.
Ability to manage small to medium scale projects.
Ability to contribute to process and equipment solutions in support of unexpected plant process issues and plant continuous improvement efforts including the interpretation and implementation of producer driven changes.
Knowledge of plant or process power distribution and networking.
Knowledge of electric loads and protective component selection (transformers, wiring, breakers, fusing).
Knowledge of SAP plant maintenance module functions a plus.
Must satisfy the requirements for a "possessor of explosives" as defined by BATFE.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as Safety rules, Work Instructions, Process Specs, Quality Plans and Packaging Standards.

Infrequent domestic travel may be required.
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders within plant manufacturing facilities when troubleshooting or supervising repairs or installations.
May require infrequent lifting of 50 lbs. (22.7 kg).
