Electrical Engineer experienced in power plant, substation or industrial automation. Seeking an automation superstar with experience programming Rockwell & GE PLC's, HMI configuration & screen development, SCADA, network and communication systems. Familiarity with power systems desired but not required.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • Five (5) plus years engineering experiencein the areas of power generation, power delivery and/or industrial automation systems.
  • Preference for a Professional Engineer licensed in Maine and/or New York with a current NCEES record.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Project Engineer on small to medium size automation and electrical engineering projects
  • Automation Programming including ladder logic, scripting, screen development and device configuration
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in technical focus area, provide training, mentorship and guidance to clients and staff.
  • Coordinate effectively with team members and external parties including clients, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Aggressively promote a safe and healthy environment and always employs safe work practices.
  • Manage all phases of projects including conception, design, specifications, scheduling, estimating, material procurement & cost control.
  • Conduct engineering studies, investigations and prepare reports.
  • Perform design review and deliverable quality checks.
  • Startup and Commissioning, 10% travel required

JOB SUMMARY: Envision, develop and implement best demonstrated hardware and software technologies for asset motion and field device control. Optimize and upgrade PLC and motion control assets. Use asset historical data to justify change for direct or indirect productivity improvement for reduced cost of operation. Support Waterville's manufacturing site in a variety of technical assignments to create innovative solutions to technological problems. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provide long term direction setting for asset control upgrades. Provide daily technical support and troubleshooting to Waterville's operation. Work with other Huhtamaki locations to develop and implement Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP). Drive for consistent control architecture of similar assets. Manage capital projects from inception to completion while meeting scope needs, maintaining cost control and insuring a safe outcome. Provide technological process improvements and cost savings to the Waterville Operation. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS The following are required to enable job holders to perform the essential functions of the job. BSEE or BSEET degree preferred. Will consider BS in related discipline with in depth automation / controls experience. 5 + years engineering experience in manufacturing environment. Strong working knowledge of PLC controlled equipment using ladder logic and function block programming. Knowledge of regulatory requirement defined by OSHA, NFPA and NEC standards. Excellent inter-personal and communication skills DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS In-depth knowledge and experience in a pulp and paper environment is preferred Working knowledge of 6-Sigma strategies including lean events, strategic data analysis, removing non-value-added processes, etc. 10+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment Experience with Rockwell control systems including troubleshooting and programming.
