ATC Automation (ATC) designs and builds custom automated assembly and test equipment for industries including transportation, life science, energy storage, and consumer goods. ATC is looking to hire an experienced mid to senior level Controls Design Engineer to run and support multi-million-dollar custom automation projects. Fast-paced, team-oriented, highly organized, detailed-oriented, and top-notch communication skills are all descriptors of the ideal candidate to fill this role.
This is a full-time position with a full benefit package, that is direct hire with the opportunity of professional growth and additional growth opportunities across our corporate organization. This position is located at our HQ in Cookeville, TN reporting to the Business Unit Manager.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Create pneumatic and electrical prints with working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical. (schematics)
Read and analyze electrical and pneumatic prints. (schematics)
Verify conformance of components to customer specifications.
Create bill of materials.
Perform test and de-bug activities.
Develop complex programs to operate devices and machines- Ladder logic or equivalent
Use voltmeters, ammeters and oscilloscopes.
Understand proper wiring methods.
Have excellent computer skills and a high level of proficiency in software to design ladder logic and machine controls. May also possess advanced programming skills in data base development and machine control.
Communicate with customers to determine machine performance criteria.
Have a thorough understanding electrical and pneumatic devices.
Have disposition authority on rejects and rework.
Knowledge of electrical and controls engineering theories and principles
Knowledge in PLC and Human Machine Interface (HMI) controls
Knowledge in the selection and use of mechatronic components: proximity switches, laser optics, photo electric, vision sensors, pneumatics, servos, actuators, etc.
Installation of completed automation systems
Travel is required
A Controls Designer creates electrical and pneumatic schematics, analyzes prints, troubleshoots, and debugs electrical and pneumatic designs, determines material and component specifications, and writes programming to operate machinery at a high level of proficiency. This is a mid-level position, capable of designing and troubleshooting complex electrical functions while working independently and cohesively with your teammates.

High School and Vocational Technical School with 5+ years of experience as an electrician.
Associates degree in electrical engineering technology and 2+ years as an electrician.
Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. Advanced degree highly desirable.
4 to 10 years of relevant work experience.
