Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead and uphold safety practices, policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Some of the basic functions include preventive maintenance, electrical troubleshooting and repairs, repairs on existing mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.

The responsibilities of the Controls Automation Technician 1 position include but are not limited to being a positive part of the team in the shop, being an active participant with developing teammates within our culture, managing projects and repairs, as well as overseeing and training teammates in the maintenance department and in the shop. The Controls Automation Technician 1 is responsible for helping to make sure that equipment is operationally safe and to minimize down time on the lines. This position is also responsible for communicating information to other departments and teammates as it relates to maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Formal education and training in PLC related field.
Basic knowledge/understanding of software products and processes utilized for shop floor automation.
Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action (CA) methodologies.
Experience working with automation, control, and monitoring systems and software.
Ability to install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain mechanical systems and electrical equipment.
Understanding of standard operating procedures, engineering documentation, and electrical diagrams.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience with Rexroth DMX and Delta RMC motion controllers.
Experience with Fanuc robotics, teaching points and program changes
Knowledge and experience with VFD's and programmable micro controller
Ability to write programs in Allen Bradley RS Logix 500 and 5000 ladder logic.
Ability to use RS Linx to access and troubleshoot.
