Controller/Accounting Manager

Job Summary The Controller/Accounting Manager will ensure the accuracy and integrity of our accounting operations, particularly in managing and analyzing financial reports, cost controls, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual standards. Supervisory Responsibilities · Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll. · Oversees the daily work activities of the office. · Manages all administrative and accounting staff. Duties/Responsibilities · Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, and utilities, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, trust account statement reconciliations, check runs, fixed asset activity, debt activity/ · Ensure that company financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures. · Establish job costing controls for better budget management and project profitability. · Ensure adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all purchases may be audited. · Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization. · Manage the preparation of the official annual report of actual revenues, transfers, and expenses. · Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports. · Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures. · Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements.

Required Skills/Abilities: · Strong understanding of job cost accounting, percentage of completion accounting, financial reporting, and GAAP. · Proficiency in accounting software and Excel. · Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model. Education and Experience: · Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration, or equivalent business experience. · 10 years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation, with at least 5 years in the construction industry. Additional Requirements: · Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. · Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
