Hybrid (possible remote) Opportunity Permanent/Full-Time Role Active Nevada CPA license a must. Controller Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required. Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in public accounting.
Experience with nonprofit organizations is strongly preferred, particularly with 501(c)(6) entities. Proficiency in accounting software and financial management tools (such as GP MS Dynamics, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or equivalent). Controller Job Duties: Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and revenue recognition, with a focus on membership dues and other revenue streams.
Prepare monthly financial statements, assist with quarterly and year-end BOD reporting, as well as other financial reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP. Perform monthly bank and investment reconciliations, ensuring timely reporting and accurate account balances. Prepare and compile financial information for the annual financial audit and support external auditors.
Prepare documentation for federal tax returns and coordinate with external tax preparers, ensuring compliance with 501(c)(6) regulations, including unrelated business income. Support the CFO in developing annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans that align with strategic objectives. Perform financial analysis and provide insights to support organizational decisions and improve financial performance.
Monitor cash flow, banking activities, and financial investments, making recommendations for optimization. Supervise and develop accounting staff, fostering a team culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Develop, implement, and maintain internal financial controls, policies, and procedures to enhance organizational efficiency and risk management.
Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making and improve organizational financial health. Actively participate in strategic planning sessions and contribute to the development of financial strategies that support the organization’s mission and goals.
