The US Oncology Network is looking for a State Controller to serve as a part of our leadership team providing support to our Urology clinic operations for Texas Oncology. The role is remote / work from home with occasional travel primarily in Texas.

What does the State Controller do?

This position advises Operations and Physician Leadership regarding the management of financial programs. Responsible for all development, analysis and reporting related to financial metrics. Ensures the general ledger and related systems for accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and fixed assets are maintained accurately and timely. Responsible for the accuracy of the financial statements of the Urology Division. Supervise and mentor the finance team for the division.

Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Provides support to department managers, practice administration and physicians in the preparation, understanding and use of financial information.

  • Develops presentations and communicates financial results to executive leaders and physicians.

  • Manages month end financial close process for the region.

  • Ensures adherence to accounting policies and internal controls.

  • Prepare financial presentations and present at Board meetings, Finance Committee meetings and various physician meetings

  • Proactively and accurately investigate all necessary detail and activity to correctly identify the causation of variance in the financial statements

  • Maintains strictest confidentiality. Communication and presentation to practice leadership and individual physicians regarding finance and cost-effective healthcare delivery issues is extensive and sensitive

  • Oversees operating, capital and cash flow budgets and assists operational leaders in exercising control to ensure expenditures do not exceed budgetary limits and are following Management Service Agreement.

  • Partner with Executive Director in developing goals and initiatives to maximize fiscal health.

  • Ensure timely processing and approval of large volume of AP records

  • Reviews proposed contracts for financial impact and risk factors. Audits contract, orders and vouchers before processing. Coordinates annual external audits.

  • Ensures that various fiscal deadlines are met, and appropriate data is provided.

  • Establishes and monitors internal controls of assets/resources, including developing and writing financial policies and procedures.

  • Assists with the preparation of business cases and proformas for capital expenditures.

  • Develop and coordinate annual budget with Executive Director and ensure compliance with presentation deadlines

  • Implement and monitor progress towards meeting annual budget.

  • Responsible for the accuracy of financial statements

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the State Controller will have the following background and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, Master's degree and/or CPA preferred

  • Minimum seven years of experience in fiscal management

  • Display intellectual curiosity to learn then master complex financial concepts and be able to effectively communicate concepts to both Physician and operational stakeholders

  • Must be able to successfully collaborate with key stakeholders across functional areas; Ability to communicate effectively with senior management; Customer-facing skills preferred; Strong customer service and presentation skills.

  • Must be a problem solver, persistent, and goal oriented. Self-starting multi-tasker, with strong organization skills.

  • Strong analytical/quantitative skills.

  • Experienced in MS Office--Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Willing to travel to different markets throughout the state to visit clinics and participate in meetings.
