Summary

The Controller is primarily responsible for managing the financing and accounting departments by providing information, primarily financial, about all company activities that assist management, executives/shareholders, and other users in making economic decisions about the companys future. Additionally, the Controller establishes and maintains systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data. Monthly reconciliations, closing activities, coordination of transactions with Treasury and Tax along with monthly reporting will be key. Additional emphasis is required on cost accounting with analysis and reporting of raw material and manufacturing costs. The Controller will develop financial reports and analysis to adequately measure Company performance as well as individual departments for policy deployment and on-going improvement. As part of a growing company, the Controller will need to be willing to roll up your sleeves and do all levels of accounting work. The candidate must enhance the companys value while abiding by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining the integrity of all confidential information

  • Oversee the activities of the corporate accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, and annual budgets

  • Oversee the activities of the disbursement department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing, and total corporate payroll tax compliance

  • Oversee the activities of the accounts receivable department to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts, application, etc.

  • Responsible for all accounting processes and functions the Company and affiliated companies.

  • Monthly reporting and working with operating departments

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of cost accounting and reporting and inventory accuracy

  • Perform funding service management, which includes weekly funding reports and customer service; quarter and year-end payroll closing, including federal and state reports; and check statistic management

  • Assist Tax Accountant with applicable requests

  • Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data to enhance the companys value

  • Participate in a wide variety of special project and compile a variety of special reports

  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner

  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions provided by the state of CO and TGS Management

  • All other tasks and job duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelors degree in accounting required
  • CPA Certification preferred

Training

  • Must maintain current knowledge of and adhere to all policy and regulations of the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED); Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and TGS Management

Required Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership, provide leadership over all accounting related activities, and drive continuous improvement

  • Ability to partner with all levels of the organization

  • Excellent computer, mathematical, language, and reasoning skills

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principals

  • Experience with a multi-company entity

  • High-level attention to detail, administrative skills, and highly organized

  • Experience using web browser applications and familiarity with current versions

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage

  • High level of attention to detail

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Minimum three years' experience as a Controller in a Manufacturing environment

  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics NAV

  • Accounting experience in Cannabis or related industries strongly preferred

  • PC proficiency and a strong working knowledge of Excel

  • Strong problem solving and creative skills along with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate analyses

  • Knowledge of Colorado marijuana laws, MED regulations, and CDPHE requirements; Previous marijuana industry experience preferred with priority given to candidates with experience in CO licensed facilities

  • Must be able to individually lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift for long periods of time

  • Must be able to work in an office environment with moderate to loud noise level

  • Must be able to acquire MED Support badge ($75 Fee to State of CO) prior to beginning employment

  • Must have and maintain a valid drivers license

  • Occasionally requires local travel, as needed.
