This role will focus on:
Due to growth and an internal requirement to enhance our internal controls over financial reporting, we are recruiting for a Controller for our Wilmington, MA headquartered USA sales operating company, currently our largest sales operating company with an annual revenue of $175m+. The role will drive the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting processes. The candidate will be pivotal in delivering on-time reporting for the sales operating company.
In addition to managing and working closely with the accounting team, you will also have a crucial business partnering role with the wider Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc finance team. You will work global colleagues to support process efficiency improvements.

What you'll be doing
You will be working directly with the accounting team to generate on-time monthly reporting, as well as interim/annual statutory accounting packs, delivering reliable and accurate financial information.
You will develop and implement best practice processes and principles, following internal governance guidelines, and provide inputs from your experience to aid the continual improvement of these processes.
You will ensure compliance with Group internal controls through a documented system of robust accounting policies, procedures, and delegation of authority (including mitigation of any segregation of duty conflicts).
You will contribute to risk mitigation through the vetting and approval of significant company contracts including large customer purchase orders, leases, and insurance renewals.
You will ensure compliance with income tax and indirect taxes filings.
You will serve as primary liaison with both internal and external auditors, driving performance improvements where appropriate.
You will collaborate with our Human Resources department to ensure renumeration and benefits and retirement plan administration is performed timely and accurately.
You will carry out the duties as the Treasurer for Watson Marlow, Inc..
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Relevant degree
Accounting professional qualification
Significant experience in a senior accounting role within a manufacturing and/or distribution business
Experience within a multi-national public company
High attention to detail, combined with the ability to see the big picture
Ability to problem solve and simplify complex data into simple solutions/conclusions
Experience of effectively and appropriately challenging business processes, outputs and standards to drive continual improvement
Experience of working with accounting systems and competent with Microsoft 365 applications (knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP software would be beneficial but not essential)
Good communication skills (written, verbal, presentations) to support collaboration and influence decision-making within the business
Experience of managing and leading teams, and a track record of talent development
A knowledge of IFRS
