Vice President, Corporate Controller
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and partnering closely with the senior management team, including the Vice President of Finance, the Vice President, Corporate Controller will play a key role in optimizing the financial infrastructure to enable business growth and profitability. This executive will be responsible for the leadership, development, and performance of the company's financial accounting team including all phases of accounting, financial reporting, and other financial management activities of the company. He or she will upgrade the corporate accounting, financial reporting, and controls functions to best in class through the development of people and the utilization of enhanced processes and technology. The Vice President, Corporate Controller will assist in the continual development and improvement of the accounting systems, implementation of accounting policies and procedures, and serve as the company's senior accountant. He or she will be responsible for the evaluation of all significant accounting transactions, and the research and implementation of relevant accounting technical standards.
Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
Oversee general accounting staff and maintain accounting systems for revenue recognition, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, fixed assets, payroll and consolidations.
Ensure adherence to the established internal controls processes quarterly.
Manage month-end, quarterly and annual closings and consolidations and related internal reporting of financial results.
Supervise preparation of all supporting information for the annual audit with the approved external auditor.
Manage the SEC reporting process and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.
Direct reconciliation of bank and investment accounts and participates in treasury activities.
Review monthly results and implement monthly variance reporting as compared to budget.
Manage the cash flow and direct preparation of cash flow forecasts in accordance with policy.
Manage the Corporate Accounting function, using the company's ERP Package (NetSuite), including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
Develop and implement policies and procedures as required to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure.
Provide accurate and timely reporting on the financial activity of key projects.
May be required to assist with compliance issues related to non-US entities.
Improve access to overall financial data.
Present to the Company's Audit Committee at least quarterly.
US Assistant Controller, ROW Regional Controllers and US Manager Finance
Key Selection Criteria
Current or previous experience as a Chief Accounting Officer or Corporate Controller.
"Big 4" public accounting experience preferred.
10+ years overall experience.
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on accounting function leadership experience in a public company with demonstrable success building high performing accounting teams with process and controls improvements.
ERP implementation experience and proficiency with ERP and financial systems in general.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and internal control principles required.
Knowledge of ASC 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customers required.
BA/BS in accounting or finance plus CPA (CPA required). Masters in accounting or MBA preferred.
Experience reporting to public shareholders or debt holders preferred.
Strong analytical, problem solving and spreadsheet skills required.
Organizational Development: The Vice President, Corporate Controller will develop the technical and operational capabilities of the accounting team to a business aligned / best-practices organization. He or she will have a history of setting and achieving high standards of performance for an accounting team. He or She will have the ability to lead from all levels - being able to flex from leading Board level discussions to working appropriately in the details or leading 'deep dives' when required. Experience developing the technical, reporting, analysis, general accounting and IT skill sets to deliver high quality value to the organization while creating greater consistency, accuracy and efficiency through improved / streamlined processes.
