Robert Half Finance is reviewing candidates for a renowned services company for an ambitious, determined Controller. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, manages the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, analyzes accounting and internal control systems, and guides departmental staff. The Controller will be a full-time employment opportunity and will be located in the Mira Loma, California region. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations G/L analysis

  • Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet client expectations

  • Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

  • Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

  • Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

  • Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings collections, and payroll

  • Strong communication and social skills

  • Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

  • High attention to detail and possess excellent organizational and writing skills

  • Financial statement preparation experience

  • Financial statements consolidation experience

  • Expertise in general ledger

  • Solid understanding of accounting policy

  • Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • CPA/MBA preferred

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
