INDUSTRY: Oilfield Services


CONTEXT: Our client, an oilfield services company, is seeking an experienced Controller to manage all accounting, finance, and treasury activities. The ideal candidate will have prior experience managing the entire accounting operations for a small to mid-sized oilfield services firm. Candidates must have solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills.


  • Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting operational functions
  • Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
  • Lead monthly forecasting, job costing, budgeting processes, tax reporting, and other general accounting functions.
  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements as well as the requirements of private contributions, loans, and contracts
  • Manage cash flow forecasting
  • Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
  • Work to improve business processes to assist in accurate cost tracking and reporting.
  • Develop job cost accounting procedures and reporting
  • Assist with developing project budgets using cost estimates for project activities, materials, and equipment.
  • Anticipate cost overages, excursions, or budget impacts; provide solutions within the approved budget.
  • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
  • Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements
  • Coordinating activities of external auditors
  • Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
  • Developing and monitoring business performance metrics


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related course of study.
  • Sound understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse team.
