The Outsourced Controller will serve as a Controller for a number of our clients on an ongoing basis. You will be challenged, provided with a variety of opportunities and become an important part of your clients senior level accounting management team. Supervise client engagements to ensure proper internal controls over client assets, timely submission of accurate internal financial statements, assist with clients' annual budget preparation, timely collection of receivables and payment of obligations, timely filing of accurate tax returns and other required external reporting documents, servicing client departments and finance needs, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with T&T policies and procedures in connection with client engagements.
Ensure that the engagement is conducted in accordance with the T&T engagement letter and proposal submitted to the client.
Perform detailed review of the monthly account reconciliations and prepared financial statements prior to submission of the financial statements to the client by the agreed upon deadline (all client financial statements shall be submitted to the Partner; those requiring a compilation report need to be reviewed by the Partner prior to submission; those not requiring a compilation report will be reviewed in conjunction with the submission of the financials to the client).
Analyze and prepare financial dashboards and/or executive summaries highlighting key financial results noted in the financial statements.
Conduct regular team meetings.
Provide timely response to all phone calls and emails.
Serve as the primary general financial advisor to the client with regular input from the Partner.
Serve as the primary internal tax consultant with respect to any basic client tax issues.
Ensure proper integration of financial data with other departments such that maximum efficiencies are achieved.
Oversee and review internal controls, policies and procedures for proper implementation.
Coordinate or assist with client annual budget process
Train and oversee Seniors and Staff assigned to the Supervisor's engagements.
Ensure proper staffing and scheduling for client engagements such that client deadlines are met.
Prepare annual client engagement letter.
Participate in the Staff and Senior mentoring program as requested.
Ability to perform "Essential Duties and Responsibilities" as listed.
Proven ability to work well with and "teach" departmental managers in the area of Finance, i.e., financial statement analysis/presentation, budgeting, proper coding; supervising and training staff.
A service mentality to non-finance departments and good communication and organization skills.
Strong time management, leadership, technology and interpersonal skills
2+ years experience as a Controller or the equivalent. CPA. Comprehensive knowledge of non-profit accounting standards and issues as well as a good understanding of non-profit tax issues.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Extensive accounting software experience, preferably with Microsoft Dynamics GP, Solomon, Quickbooks, Peachtree, FRx and F9.
