Department: Outsourced Accounting Services

Summary:

The Outsourced Controller will serve as a Controller for a number of our clients on an ongoing basis. You will be challenged, provided with a variety of opportunities and become an important part of your clients senior level accounting management team. Supervise client engagements to ensure proper internal controls over client assets, timely submission of accurate internal financial statements, assist with clients' annual budget preparation, timely collection of receivables and payment of obligations, timely filing of accurate tax returns and other required external reporting documents, servicing client departments and finance needs, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with T&T policies and procedures in connection with client engagements.

  • Ensure that the engagement is conducted in accordance with the T&T engagement letter and proposal submitted to the client.

  • Perform detailed review of the monthly account reconciliations and prepared financial statements prior to submission of the financial statements to the client by the agreed upon deadline (all client financial statements shall be submitted to the Partner; those requiring a compilation report need to be reviewed by the Partner prior to submission; those not requiring a compilation report will be reviewed in conjunction with the submission of the financials to the client).

  • Analyze and prepare financial dashboards and/or executive summaries highlighting key financial results noted in the financial statements.

  • Conduct regular team meetings.

  • Provide timely response to all phone calls and emails.

  • Serve as the primary general financial advisor to the client with regular input from the Partner.

  • Serve as the primary internal tax consultant with respect to any basic client tax issues.

  • Ensure proper integration of financial data with other departments such that maximum efficiencies are achieved.

  • Oversee and review internal controls, policies and procedures for proper implementation.

  • Coordinate or assist with client annual budget process

  • Train and oversee Seniors and Staff assigned to the Supervisor's engagements.

  • Ensure proper staffing and scheduling for client engagements such that client deadlines are met.

  • Prepare annual client engagement letter.

  • Participate in the Staff and Senior mentoring program as requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform "Essential Duties and Responsibilities" as listed.

  • Proven ability to work well with and "teach" departmental managers in the area of Finance, i.e., financial statement analysis/presentation, budgeting, proper coding; supervising and training staff.

  • A service mentality to non-finance departments and good communication and organization skills.

  • Strong time management, leadership, technology and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years experience as a Controller or the equivalent. CPA. Comprehensive knowledge of non-profit accounting standards and issues as well as a good understanding of non-profit tax issues.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; 5-7 years of relevant work experience.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Extensive accounting software experience, preferably with Microsoft Dynamics GP, Solomon, Quickbooks, Peachtree, FRx and F9.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Develop and maintain an understanding of the accounting operations within the organization.Obtain a working knowledge of accounting software packages. * Perform month end close process. * Prepare monthly bank and /or investment account reconciliations. * Maintain fixed assets schedule. * Prepare various general ledger account reconciliations. * Prepare and analyze financial statements for the client by the agreed upon deadline. Accounting Manager/Supervisor must review and approve before submission to client. * Train and oversee Staff assigned to the engagements and train the Senior Staff Accountant with the month end close process. * Review the daily data entry by the accounting staff to ensure accurate posting in the accounting package. * Oversee timely mailing of outstanding receivable invoices to debtors. * Responsible for recommending and enforcing the internal controls, policies and procedures, established by the client. * Preparation of audit schedules, confirmation letters, etc. * Respond to auditor inquiries. * Perform client services as outlined in the T&T engagement letter and proposal submitted to the client. Required Qualifications: * Proven ability to work well with and train accounting clerical staff in policies and procedures, proper accounting and retaining necessary documentation for recorded transactions. * Proven ability to perform the month end close; including the preparation of accurate financial statements. * A service mentality to non-finance departments and a good understanding of non-profit accounting standards, issues, internal controls, and processes. * Proven ability to work independently on client assignments. * Strong time management, organizational, attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications: Experience with non-profit organizations. CPA or CPA candidate. Bachelor's degree in accounting and equivalent work experience of 3 – 6 years.
