We seek a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Controller to join our dynamic finance team in North America. The Corporate Controller will help oversee our North American operations, including accounting functions, compliance, and internal controls. This role requires an analytical thinker with exceptional leadership abilities, a strong understanding of US GAAP, and a proven track record of driving financial excellence in a complex and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations:
Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and fixed assets.
Oversee the monthly close process, ensuring adherence to close timeline and accuracy of financial data.
Oversee and analyze manufacturing costs, ensuring proper allocation, reconciliations, and reporting.
Implement and maintain robust accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Cash Flow Management:
Manage and optimize cash flow by monitoring receivables, payables, and working capital.
Implement strategies to enhance liquidity and mitigate financial risks.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, tax laws, and internal policies.
Coordinate external audits and serve as the primary liaison with auditors.
Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective controls and risk management strategies.
Implement and maintain effective internal controls related to manufacturing processes.
Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Leadership and Team Development:
Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional teams and senior management.
Support talent development initiatives, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
Strategic Initiatives:
Partner with senior leadership to support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
Evaluate financial performance against strategic objectives and recommend actions to drive business growth and profitability.
Lead special projects and initiatives to improve financial processes, systems, and efficiencies.
Process Improvement:
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.
Work closely with IT to leverage technology for automation and streamlining financial processes.
Tax Compliance:
Lend support to tax compliance, the preparation and submission of tax returns.
Stay abreast of changes in tax regulations and implement necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the team's skill set.
Other Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and distribute ad-hoc reports as needed.
Interact with all levels of employees, from clerical to senior management, and establish productive relationships with our internal customers.
Work independently and provide appropriate coaching and direction to other team members.
Resolve challenging issues appropriately and communicate in a timely, clear, and concise manner.
Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directs and oversees a team of 2-4 individuals.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
Establish and enforce quality and reliability standards.
Required Skills and Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train staff.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Experience in database management.
Must be meticulous with strong organizational and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills in interacting with management, peers, and direct reports and proficient presentation skills.
Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics AX or Hyperion is a plus.
Previous experience in production or manufacturing industry preferred.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field is required.
Advanced degree and/or certifications preferred (MBA, CFP, FRM, CMA)
Prior experience in a supervisory role
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to fifteen (15) pounds at times.
