Position Overview

The Texas Bitulithic Company Controller position offers a diverse set of responsibilities and will work alongside senior management of the Central Division on various issues and projects. The candidate is a skilled financial professional who understands business, operations and financial processes; has the ability to integrate finance and operations, and can collaborate with operational leadership. Core behavioral characteristics we seek include: being a partner to business managers; implementing analytical decision-making in the business; and, proactively finding opportunities and recommending ideas for increased profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a strong local finance group facilitating continuous professional growth for all team members

  • Help in the planning/execution of the accounting staff's goals, growth, and succession

  • Ensure adequate controls are in place and maintained to safeguard financial assets. This includes all SOX controls and Central Division accounting policies and procedures.

  • Explore opportunities to reduce expenses

  • Recommend, lead and/or assist with new efforts to improve management and financial performance

  • Work with President, CFO, & senior management on financial analysis and CAPEX requests

  • Review balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis to confirm proper reconciliation and supporting backup

  • Conduct analysis/review of P&L accounts to support the month end process along with cost analysis and evaluation

  • Coordinate with departments and employees performing financial reporting, payables, billing, collections, and payroll duties

  • Coordinate with CFO & Divisional Controller requests/documentation related to external and internal audits

  • Work on ad hoc projects as directed

Qualifications (Education/Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience; CMA, CPA, or MBA preferred

  • Manufacturing and/or construction background along with multi-unit operations is highly desired

  • Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant

Responsibilities Performs various administrative and clerical functions to include filing, faxing, scheduling, reporting, tracking, data collection and entry, etc. that are required to maintain an organized, efficient, and functional agency. Responsible for maintaining personnel records, on-boarding new associates, and assists with payroll and HR questions, as directed by supervisor. Completes special projects as assigned by management team. Submits, receives, organizes, and communicates insurance verification forms, orders, etc. and faxes, as assigned for purposes of medical and personnel records inventory management. Assists with inputting, retrieving, compiling, and printing report data from Brookdale Senior Living software, HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB), Rehab Optima (RO), etc. as directed by the leadership team. Examples include the Records Inventory Management (RIM) report, RO Closeout report, HCHB and PointCare reports, labor reports, the Manager tool, payroll reports, spend down report, etc. Retrieves, opens and sorts mail received at the agency and provides indicated follow-up communication to team members. Assists with document compilation, copying, and submission of Additional Development Requests (ADRs) to the Brookdale Appeals team. Travels to communities to assist team and or visitors with filing, faxing, copying, office organization, agency compliance activity (i.e. Temperature checks, sanitizing equipment, etc.) and new associate orientation, as assigned. Responsible for tracking and maintaining associate personnel files and required personnel file documentation. Completes personnel records filing and personnel records updates as assigned. Assists in the On-Boarding process of new associates and assists answering associate payroll and HR questions. Facilitates communication with local agency office personnel, Central Office Associates, Patient Account Representatives, and any Brookdale home office team members, as indicated and/or assigned (e.g. assists with accounts payable, payroll and Paid Time Off (PTO) needs or issues). Reviews and updates PTO and compares to calendar and submits for approval requests in coordination with management team. Maintains assigned team PTO Calendars. Assists with weekly schedule of management staff. Assists management team in preparing for network management meetings to include making copies, working with office or the community for meeting space, lunch, etc. Assists with scheduling candidate interviews for management team assigned for designated positions and candidates. Completes candidate and vacancy updates with recruiting team as requested. Completes supply, marketing material, training material orders and follows-up with supply orders, as assigned.
