SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Controller to lead our Accounting team. The Controller will oversee all aspects of our financial planning and analysis, driving growth and improvements for each accounting area. This role is suited for a leader with a deep understanding of the retail industry and a proven track record of effective, innovative management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises the monthly closing process and financial statement production in conjunction with the accounting department managers
Organizes the personnel structure and associated workflow and processes with the accounting department managers to increase efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness
Directs each accounting department manager with periodic review and specific issue analysis to achieve plans and objectives but also to provide feedback and improvements
Controls the execution of the monthly closing process and financial statement production with review of internal controls and implementation of root cause analysis with and through the accounting department mangers
Staffs the accounting department with trained and educated personnel, as appropriate for each position
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Business - Accounting required; CPA highly preferred; Masters preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience with Microsoft GP is highly preferred
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a managerial role; thorough understanding of Corporate Finance and Accounting Principles
Must be able to multi-task and adjust to new situations quickly
Must have excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written
Must have a proven ability to recruit, lead, mentor, evaluate and develop staff;
Must be extremely detail-oriented and have a positive attitude.
Heritage prepares a multi-company, consolidated and combined financial statement with planning and analysis as may be required, and accordingly, commensurate experience is preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Individual must be able to work independently in a fast-paced, team-focused environment with tight turnaround deadlines.
