Essential Job Duties &Responsibilities
Finance and Accounting Leadership
Oversees all general ledger accounts and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
Oversees a timely month end close process including the review and posting of journal entries from all areas of accounting. Establishes timelines and schedules for all parties involved. Performs initial review of results and assesses reasonableness.
Analyzes financial information to ensure accuracy in reporting financial results for all programs by establishing appropriate accruals, estimates, allocations and adjustments.
Leads the department in the development and implementation of operational efficiencies to enhance accounting, budgeting, and reporting processes.
Prepares and reviews monthly financial statements comparing actual to budget variances.
Oversees the annual Financial Statement and 401K audit by coordinating activities with external auditors, establishing timelines, and identifying responsible individuals and required documents. Reviews work papers given to the auditors for accuracy and completeness. Prepares annual financial statements and footnotes.
Works with external auditors to prepare IRS Form 990 for all companies.
Develops and maintains internal controls and written accounting policies and procedures for all functions within the Accounting area to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Works closely with the agency staff, clients, customers, and vendors to ensure all relevant information is communicated.
Maintains banking relationships with bank relationship managers.
Participates in annual budget process.
Assists with the annual Unified Data System (UDS) reporting.
Supports the CFO with financial presentations to the Board of Directors and the Finance and Infrastructure committee and will work closely with the senior leadership team.
Team Leadership
Manages assigned staff including hiring, training, professional development and workload assignment.
Leads the department in technological troubleshooting and enhancements, project management, and financial analysis.
Provides leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff throughout the organization
Creates and promotes a positive work environment.
Other Job Duties & Responsibilities
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required with a CPA or CMA preferred.
Minimum five years' experience in Accounting and recent managerial experience required.
Experience in nonprofit and/or health care field is strongly preferred.

Job Skills
Excellent organizational, verbal, written communication skills along with the ability to work with senior management required.
Sufficient experience coordinating audit activities, managing financial reporting, developing and analyzing budgets, and overseeing accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, cash receipts and investments.
Adequate experience hiring, mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team.
Keen analytic and problem solving skills for strategic data interpretation.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience effectively presenting key data to senior management, Board of Directors or other key stakeholders.
Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels within the organization.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time and use hands and fingers.
