We are currently seeking a Controller at our Corporate Office in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan This individual will help lead a group of 6-8 Property Accountants to provide timely, responsive, financial services to our internal and external customers, while safeguarding the company's assets and pursuing profit/efficiency enhancements within corporate and property operations.

This position also includes, but is not limited to:

  • Managing the day to day accounting for the organization

  • Providing financial reporting and analysis of the business

  • Ensuring the safeguarding and control of company assets

  • Assisting with working to an allocated budget

  • Ensuring a customer satisfaction rating of 95% or better

  • Embracing a continuous learning environment and culture

Position Requirements:

  • 7+ years of professional accounting experience, including leadership experience

  • Bachelor Degree with a major in Finance/Accounting

  • Advanced knowledge of required financial software (Microsoft Excel required, Rent Manager and Avid preferred)

  • Property management knowledge, specifically mobile home parks (preferred)

  • Have a proven track record of hiring "A-Players" and growing and developing a solid Accounting team.

  • Ensure accuracy of financial data and and compliance with department expectations while maintaining accountability of the Accounting Team

  • Enthusiasm/ability to motivate others

  • Must work with integrity/honesty and transparency

  • Strong customer service/administrative background

  • Flexible and adaptable

  • Works well under pressure with strong organizational and planning skills

  • Quick study - analytical and strong attention to detail

  • Proactive with strong work ethic - must be self starting and self directed

  • Oral/written communication - strong interpersonal skills

  • Open to constructive criticism and others ideas

  • Ability to be active when necessary - walking, bending, standing, lifting up to 20 pounds

  • Will need to obtain a notary public license within 90 days of employment

  • Must legally be able to operate a motor vehicle with a clear driving record

Salary: TBD based on experience

These individuals are responsible for overseeing a mobile home property from all facets, including: sales, operations, marketing and tenant relations. They will have full P&L accountability and will oversee any park staff employees working for the property. This position also includes, but is not limited to: * Driving to critical number expectation of 100% occupancy rate on a consistent basis * Ensuring 100% collection of all rent and fees in a timely manner * Ensuring 100% compliance to company home standards around well maintained properties * Managing to an established property budget - not exceeding the amount allocated - "thinking like an owner" Position Requirements: * 3+ years of experience within the property management industry, preferably in mobile home property management * Ability to be very active - walking, bending, standing and lifting up to 20 pounds. * Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver's license * Ability to travel 80% of the job * Completed High School Diploma/GED * Experience successfully leading a team * Sets high standards for themselves and their teams * Works with integrity and honesty * Works calm under pressure and is able to follow through on commitments * Strong work ethic - moves quickly, but with strong attention to detail * Strong organizational and planning abilities * Proactive/takes initiative/self-motivated * Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills Salary: $45,000-$48,000 Benefits: We do have a competitive health benefit plan (medical, dental and vision coverage), life insurance and disability insurance offerings, as well as a 401K plan.
