We are looking for a Controller to join our Accounting team. The Controller will perform general accounting functions to insure proper analysis and reporting of financial statements, general ledger and other managerial reports.
College degree with accounting major/concentration
Minimum of five to ten years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Prefer experience in Public Accounting/Auditing
Excellent supervising and communication skills
Strong Internet, email, data entry, MS/Word, MS Excel, AS400 / Innovative Computer Corp. software, and other administrative modules
Excellent work history with a proven track record
Ability to successfully pass drug test and physical
Professional, clean, neat appearance
No conviction of felonies, serious crimes, or have charges pending. However, a conviction is not an automatic disqualification of employment.
Travel as needed
Ability to work independently, take initiative and be a self-starter
Ability to interact, in a professional manner, with Company personnel, drivers, vendors and customers
Ability to plan and organize workload to meet deadlines

Develop and direct staff accountants into positions of advancement
Plan and direct work processes to protect the assets of the company
Establish internal controls for compliance with accounting and audit requirements
Prepare, maintain, and reconcile accounting schedules of various general ledger asset and liability accounts
Prepare and coordinate data entry of monthly adjusting journal entries.
Assist independent auditors in annual audits of company accounts.
Reconcile balances to the general ledger each month, making adjustments necessary to obtain accurate balances.
Provide information and statistical reports to management on a monthly basis and other times as needed.
Prepare reports required by governmental agencies.
Balance monthly bank statement.
Update IFTA recording program and reporting to management.
Backup for all accounts payable and contractor settlements as needed.
Process monthly general closing, financial and statistical reports.
Oversee preparation of 1099's.
General accounting duties
Demonstrate support to the Epes Transport System, LLC Quality Management System and its objectives as applicable.
Other duties as may be assigned.
