Miria is a fast-paced, fun, and rewarding organization that believes in an open culture and rewards initiative.About the Position:The Controller is responsible for all accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, human resources, audit, tax, and office management. Reports to CFO.Responsibilities
This is currently a one-person department requiring hands-on performance of the following:
  • Perform month end close including account analysis and financial reporting. General ledger maintenance and journal entries.
  • Preparing customer invoices for both SaaS and professional service billings. Payment posting and A/R collections.
  • Inputting account payable invoices & expense reports. Making payments to vendors.
  • Bank reconciliations and cash management.
  • Payroll processing and calculating sales commissions and payroll allocations.
  • All Human Resource functions including personnel administration, benefit management, employee on-boarding and 401k administration.
  • Sales tax returns, audit preparation and income tax compliance.
  • Forecast and budget preparation. Special projects.
  • Office management including supplies & administration.
Must Haves:
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 5-10 years experience in accounting/finance.
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Controller of a start-up / growth stage company in the technology industry.
  • Recent hands on experience actually performing (not supervising) the majority of the above job responsibilities a must.
  • Recent experience with QuickBooks.
  • High energy, well organized, self-motivated and a strong work ethic.
A Plus to Have:
  • Experience with SaaS, ASC606 revenue recognition & deferred revenue.
  • Public accounting experience.
  • CPA license

In this role, the Regional Financial Manager will have direct interaction with facility CFOs and Controllers as well as exposure to the overall Acute Care Division, which has annual revenues of $7B+. In addition, this position is encouraged to identify improvement opportunities, with the goal of enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes and quality of financial reporting at UHS. • Manages monthly closing process to ensure financial statements are completed accurately, on time, and that they comply with Corporate timelines, US & local GAAP guidelines, and SOX requirements. • Assist facility in preparing for financial discussions during regional Monthly Operations Review (MORs), addressing actual operating results versus plan, estimate, and prior year. • Maintain monthly and quarterly account analysis that substantiate balance sheet accounts. • Generates ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed by management. • Identify and manage depreciable assets and associated schedules. • Ensure regional intercompany accounts are reconciled and settled on a periodic basis. • Provides onsite and remote assistance to troubled facilities and serves as interim controller as necessary. • Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline. • 3-5 years related experience in a healthcare organization are required. • Strong understanding of general accounting concepts, practices, standards, principles, and activities related to one or more corporate accounting functions such as General Ledger, Budgeting, Financial Reporting, AP, etc. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, numerical facility, and analytical abilities. • Two or more years in general corporate accounting in a major accounting function such as General Ledger, Budget, Financial Reporting, AP, etc. • Travel Requirements: Minimal domestic US travel, perhaps up to 5%. • Experienced with information systems conversions, excellent computer skills on various systems. Strong Excel skills and the ability to work with large, complex sets of data are a must. Strong communication skills with an ability to create a collaborative work environment with multiple stakeholders across diverse geographic locations are required. Crowe RCA experience is a plus.
