Title: ControllerCompensation: $125,000-150,000 salaryEnvironment: Hybrid 2 days per week in Virginia office
Industry: NonprofitOur client is a mission-focused Nonprofit organization with domestic operations across the US, and headquarters based in Northern Virginia. The company is seeking a Controller, who can help elevate operations and manage the current team. This role will be the core of all aspects of accounting operations, including budgeting, compliance, grants, and audit readiness. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nonprofit accounting (preferably including public accounting), strong management skills, and sound executive presence.
Compensation for the position will depend on experience and accreditation, and is budgeted between $125k-150k salary.Key Responsibilities:

Oversee daily operations of the accounting department, including managing staff
Prepare and submit government filings and reports, including working with the tax firm that prepares Federal Form 990 and applicable state filings.
Coordinate the annual budget process and track actual performance against the annual budgets.
Engage with the Board around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery
Responsible for generating the monthly financial statements and ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
Prepare and track all the reporting requirements this organization will file as a result of its receipt of any funding
Assists with the improvement, design, and implementation of any internal controls to ensure streamlined and efficient processes internally

Job Requirements:

BS in Accounting/Finance, or related field
CPA highly preferred
10+ years of supervisory experience, within Nonprofit field
Skilled in areas including: finance, accounting, budgeting, grant management and cost control principles, including a thorough understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
Proven leadership qualities and ability and skills to succeed in a teamwork environment
Experience with Sage Intacct preferred but not required.
