Have you considered what it may be like to work at Pratt & Whitney? We have a rare opportunity for a talented Control & Diagnostic Systems On-Board Modeling and Estimation Engineer to be based in East Hartford, Connecticut.
Control & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military, commercial and industrial gas turbine engine control, and diagnostic systems. CDS is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development including: requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design, and product software design, verification & validation. The on-board modeling and estimation discipline designs real-time, embedded engine models and estimators for synthesizing unmeasured engine parameters that are critical for control, diagnostics, performance, and operability. We are involved from concept initiation phase to entry in service and collaborate with various disciplines to ensure that synthesized parameters meet requirements.

Develop physics-based models of turbo-machinery components by applying principles and methods from thermodynamics, aerodynamics, and heat transfer and integrating component models into an overall engine model.
Design and analyze estimation algorithms by applying methods and tools from multi-input multi-output dynamical linear system and estimation theories.
Develop statistical models and methods for modeling various uncertainty types and for processing simulation results and data.
Implement and simulate models and estimators in engineering computational environments such as Matlab/Simulink.
Exhibit great interpersonal skills, and a genuine interest in building upon and growing experience through interactions with experts from other disciplines (Requirements, Performance, Operability, Software, Real-Time Test Hardware, and Verification).
Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering with 3 years of experience developing physics-based models, and/or designing and analyzing estimation algorithms.
Master's Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
US Citizen due to government contracts
Experience in control system design and analysis
Experience utilizing detection theory
Experience with Numerical Propulsion System Simulation environment
Experience applying numerical methods while solving ordinary differential equations
