Viking Electric is hiring a Control and Automation Specialist to join our industrial sales team in Milwaukee. This position will be responsible for supporting the sales efforts of Viking Electric for control and automation related product lines. While they may have no assigned accounts, the specialist's primary responsibility is to support sales growth. They achieve this by providing application problem solving, customer technical support, customer training, in-house training and marketing support.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct sales-based activities:

  • Joint and individual calls with outside salespeople to introduce new products.

  • Presentations to groups of customers to describe technical features.

  • Can break-down complex technology into simple words or simple terms.

  • Needs evaluation in order to develop "customized solutions" for the customer's application

  • Assist salespeople in identifying high-potential target customers as well as opportunities with current customers.

  • Regularly visit select target customers to support existing projects and discuss new opportunities

  • Customer technical support:

  • Provide customer-based product training or seminars.

  • Assist customers with needs and application analysis.

  • Assist customers in trouble shooting activities.

  • Act as "front line" support for customer calls and emails regarding technical issues.

  • Build bills of material for technical applications.

  • Internal technical support:

  • Answer product and applications questions from inside and outside salespeople.

  • Develop and conduct product training classes for inside and outside salespeople.

  • Keep abreast of new standards and applicable government regulations.

  • Vendor interaction:

  • Attend vendor planning/review/targeting meetings.

  • Coordinate sales and technical support activities with local vendor team.

  • Identify vendor specific training opportunities.

  • Provide information to management team for vendor rating meetings as needed.

  • Assist in negotiating special pricing on sample and demos.

  • Attend manufacturer and industry led technology updates as needed.

  • Other Responsibilities

  • Assist marketing in developing the appropriate marketing materials for sale brochures, events and other promotions.

  • Review all inventory slated for scrapping for potential salability or use as demo equipment.

  • Conduct control and automation stock reviews with appropriate Viking product managers.

  • Complete required continuing education to stay relevant in the field

Good listening, writing skills. Strong presentation skills (groups & 1-on-1). Coaching, limited management skills. Very strong computer skills. Understands product features, applications and problem solving. Understands competitive positioning, market level prices, product mixes. Manages some areas of the vendor relationship. Seeks out new technologies and recruits suppliers. Manages Demo and Sample budget for technology group.

Industrial control application experience preferred.

Job Location: Milwaukee, WI Position Summary * Senior Test Automation Engineer to write and maintain automated verification tests to be used in developing embedded software products. Depending on needs, these automated tests may control a product via a User Interface or via a product's external ports. Duties and Responsibilities * Develop and execute automated software verification tests in one or more scripting languages. * Convert existing manual verification tests into automated scripted tests and demonstrate equivalence * Automate test result collection and summarization * Where applicable, use a continuous integration server like Jenkins to automatically trigger, execute, and summarize the results of the automated verification tests. * Apply software engineering principles like modular design to keep the automated test suite maintainable and easily adaptable when changes occur. Basic Qualifications * A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent education and experience. * At least 5 years of experience in either the development of or formal verification and validation testing of at least moderately complex software to be used in a high-reliability environment. * At least 2 years implementing and maintaining automated build environments using common scripting languages (Python, Perl, Ruby) integrated with a continuous integration environment like Jenkins. * Strong foundation in standard software development processes/methods and configuration management * Must be a self-starter comfortable with taking responsibility with a significant software design effort and be a champion for his/her designs and products. * Must work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment. * Candidates must be US citizens and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment. Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge * Experience writing automated UI tests using SmartBear's Test Complete environment. * Experience automating embedded software development toolchains like Visual Studio, IAR, Keil, Matlab Simulink, Polyspace, and/or Xilinx Vivado for VHDL synthesis * Comfortable setting up build environments on both Windows and Linux. * Experience using and maintaining git, JIRA, Jenkins, Docker, and Artifactory * Capable of mentoring junior engineers in automated build and test environments * Experience developing military products and familiarity with military specifications * Experience in DO178, DO254 or equivalent quality system Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee requires normal manual dexterity, speech and hearing.
