BBN Technologies Corp, has an opening for a Contracts Manager (G10) supporting a variety of business focus areas, including the Physical Sciences and Systems group and the Network and Cyber Technologies Group. The position is a key member of the business formation and business management teams within BBN. BBN has a long history of science and technological innovation that dates back to its founding in 1948.

What will you do

In this role, the individual will be responsible for participation in the requirements analysis of Request for Proposals (RFP) and Broad Agency Announcements, proposal reviews and coordination, contract negotiation, contract administration, non-disclosure agreements and other business agreements and contracts with the U.S. Government, commercial, and academic clients.

The position offers broad exposure to a multitude of procurement types (CPFF, T&M, FFP), other transactions, and grant vehicles. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is BBN's largest customer. Responsibilities will include working closely with Program Managers and Scientists, Finance, Global Trade, and other program functions to construct and submit technical and cost proposals to win new business; to negotiate terms and conditions, cost and price; and, to manage contracts after award. The Contracts Manager will be an integral part of the business team and will attend Proposal and Program Reviews, providing advice, insight, recommendations, and support to senior management regarding contractual and business issues, ensuring that negotiated terms and conditions comply with company policies, and guiding management on contractual rights and obligations and mitigation of contractual/program risks.

What you need

BA/BS in Business, or related field; JD or MBA a plus.

Eight or more years of experience in contract administration

A proven track record of success in contracting with an intimate understanding of terms and conditions

Ability to understand the financial aspects of contracts and other business arrangements as well as the ability to contribute to negotiation strategies

Effective communicator both orally and in writing with strong analytical skills and interpersonal skills

Ability to lead and work within a team and to foster teamwork and trust

Capable of multi-tasking and handling several assignments

Excellent time management and organizational skills

Focus on responsiveness with strong time management and organizational skills

Knowledge FAR, DFARS, and ITAR

Position may require some amount of overnight travel.

Final DoD Top Secret clearance

Additional skills that would be awesome

Advanced degree is a plus

Computer proficiency, experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and shared databases

SCI eligible

Personnel Management experience of a small team

Work Location (either):

  • Core office at BBN facility in Middletown, RI with periodic visits to Headquarters, Cambridge, MA;
  • Or, Core office at BBN Headquarters in Cambridge, MA with regular visits to Middletown, RI.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Blueprint Medicines seeks an exceptional candidate for an Associate Director, Contracts. The successful candidate will possess significant experience in managing, drafting and negotiating a high volume of life sciences contracts for a biotechnology or pharmaceuticals company. The Associate Director, Contracts will work across functions and teams at Blueprint Medicines as a trusted partner to proactively facilitate the efficient negotiation, execution and tracking of contracts with a focus on client service, professionalism, superior organizational and prioritization skills, and a high level of attention to detail. This position reports to the Associate Counsel, Contracts. Responsibilities: * Partner with Blueprint Medicines' existing contracts team to draft and negotiate a high volume of contracts, including services agreements, research agreements, clinical trial agreements, consulting agreements, commercial agreements, speaker and advisory board agreements, and confidentiality agreements. * Act as a liaison between internal business partners, legal and compliance departments, external vendors and outside counsel as necessary for contract drafting, negotiations, processes and inquiries. * Master and seek to continue to improve the internal contracting process, including administering an integrated contracts management system and developing internal training materials related to Blueprint Medicines' contracting processes and policies. * Work in close collaboration with cross-functional teams and external vendors on contract maintenance, renewals and terminations. * Ensure fully executed contracts are properly entered into the contracts management system and update information, as required. * Actively help implement and manage contract and document management tools and other technology adopted by the legal department. * Help develop and implement new policies, procedures and contract templates and provide education and training to internal clients. * Work closely with members of finance and other departments to help ensure compliance with cross-functional policies, procedures and reporting. * Develop reports, presentations, spreadsheets, memos and other documents for the legal department, internal clients and/or the senior management team. * Complete special projects as requested, such as collaborating on department-wide or company-wide initiatives. This position does not have managerial responsibility or budgetary discretion.
