23andMe is seeking an experienced Contracts Associate to join a fast-paced, dynamic team and work on contracts and contract lifecycles. We are looking for a candidate who has solid contract experience and can single handedly manage a large workload of agreements with our business partners. As part of a small team of lawyers and other contracts associates and paralegals, the Contracts Associate must be a self-starter and able to work proactively in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do

  • Independently manage a wide variety of contracts during the entire contract lifecycle, including but not limited to NDAs, consulting agreements, services agreements, SOWs, license agreements, and operational agreements.

  • Directly work with business stakeholders to assist in contractual and legal matters and provide guidance on Company policies and procedures relevant to contracting.

  • Draft and review agreements in a timely manner, working with business partners to obtain relevant information and provide guidance on contractual issues. Work to efficiently negotiate and finalize agreements.

  • Help develop operational processes related to agreements.

  • Assist Legal staff in drafting policies and presentations; assist in administrative matters as needed.

What you'll bring

  • J.D. or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant law firm or in-house experience as a Paralegal or Contracts Associate or equivalent experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to draft, negotiate and complete agreements with minimal supervision. Solid understanding of contract issues and terms, including those related to intellectual property, health care and data privacy.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage a high volume of agreements, and maintain excellent work product, in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with, and thoughtfully present information to, department heads and other internal stakeholders.

  • Expert knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong proficiency working in Mac environment, including with Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, etc.).

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Team player, excellent judgment and a great sense of humor.
